DVT and high heels

Hello again

I've already posted here and I have a new question. Maybe you can help me with it. I'm three months out of DVT diagnosis, my leg is swollen, less than at the beginning, but it still is. My doctor told me that I am allowed to wear whatever footwear I want. As I always wore high heels and I continue doing the same. I only wore flat shoes/sandals in the first month after DVD. Do you think that my swelling can get worse from that? Whats your experience on this subject?

I also would like to start wearing knee high compression stocking sometimes instead of pantyhose all the time. My DVT was in the femoral and popliteal veins, about 4 inches.

I don't think wearing heels would affect the swelling in your leg. Your feet may swell but that shouldn't be permanent. But the only way to know how it will affect you is to try wearing them for a little bit at at time and see how it goes. I would check with your doc on the knee high compression stockings. Some docs say thigh high and some say knee high.

I think it should've fine, assuming it is comfortable for you. My only advice would be to make sure your shoes fit properly. Us women tend to try to stuff our feet into shoes that are too small, which is not only bad for your feet, but can interrupt circulation. I am so guilty of this myself!!!

Regarding the hose, def a question for your doctor. My doctor said hose should extend the full area of the clot, but he also misdiagnosed me for a month, ha!!

I wasn't a full-time heels wearer to start with, but I still wear them on occasion and don't have any side effects that are above what a normal day in heels will do to your feel (a little sore and tired). I also had femoral and popliiteal clots.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
