Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
well I am anemic but I do not know i there is any correlation. When I was told about my clotting disorder they had done a lot of blood work and discovered it then. I do feel tired at times. To rule out physical problems that could account for it, I have had further blood tests done, I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy done but as far as a I know they have not found anything conclusive to explain it. I have read that it can take a very long time for your levels to rise once you begin iron supplementation. I did have three surgeries, back surgery and then two more to try to correct complications and then the DVt so maybe just being run down after something like that could explain part of it. I am getting ome of the best care I have had post DVT from my fabulous hemotologist. She is managing the Factor V Leiden domplication and also the anemia. If you do not see one already maybe that would be a good idea. MY four day holiday week-end will include lots of rest and I hope your does too. Wishing you lots of healing a peaceful weekend.
Oh. also, I find that my Warfarin makes me feel very tired in itself.
I don't know if anemia can related specifically related to warfarin or a dvt.
I think many of the high iron foods also are high in vitamin K so it is something to take into consideration.
Thanks and have a great Memorial Day!
If you are seriously anemic, you may be eligible for an iron infusion. But your blood counts have to be below a certain amount to qualify. I had an iron infusion in June but I was in the middle of a UC flare up and losing a lot of blood so I was really struggling. I'm sure being on warfarin didn't help.
Hey Cegee, thanks for the sympathy about the UC. It's definitely no picnic and you know a bit about that with the IBS, as they share some similar symptoms. I'm fortunate that I've experienced remission for years at a time. But the flare ups in between are rough, I can't lie. Since Sept 2008, I had the PE/DVt, then another DVT 6 months later and then BAM, right into a horrible UC flare, with all the bells and whistles: anemia, joint pain, severe pain, fatigue, nausea. For me, they think UC may have triggered, in part, my clots, but then I think the stress from the clots made my UC flare up. Fortunately, I recently went back into remission again with new UC drugs, so life feels normal again. Chronic illness really starts to wear you down, man.
