Has anyone had a cortisone shot in their DVT leg?
Any thoughts on the matter?

I have had injections in my knee on my DVT side. Unfortunately, 2 out of 3 times I got another DVT. I have failed on anticoags numerous times, so I might not be the best example.

As for the compression stockings, I slept in ted hose after my last dvts, and I loved sleeping in them. They put them on me in the hospital and I needed to sleep in them for about a month.

Sounds like the Cortisone shot might not be a very good idea either. Im praying that this is my IT Band and that it will go away.

I would discuss it with your doc to get his take on the risks associated with it, if there are any.

I had a cortisone injection about three months after my DVT (after minor knee surgery) and I had no issues from it.

Hello Amerimex.. I had a knee injury(meniscal and ligament tears) last year which forced me to take bed rest which led to DVT.. I had a knee surgery last year and even after doing Physiotherapy regularly for almost 8-9 months there is still some swelling in my knee. Even in my case it is in the same leg that I had a DVT.. so we will never know whether this swelling is because of knee injury or PTS. Initially I used to be freaked out about the pain during the nights.. but I noticed the pain in my knee and my calf are very little when I am sleeping on my back in a soldier/star fish position. Once I am asleep I tend to go to foetus or log position but it pains again and disrupts my sleep...it is very frustrating.. but once I return back to the soldier position again, the pain slowly goes away.. you might try experimenting with these sleeping positions and see what works for you :)

Soldier position ...is that like a "4" position with one leg straight and te other bent? I love that position, though lately I have been propping my bad leg up on really tall pillows. It has been a godsend. My leg feels the best in the morning, though I am always a little nervous to take that first stand out of bed for fear of DVT burning signs.

Still psychologically scarred I guess.

Back to your original comment, I am going to give sleeping with a low grade compression sock a try. I some already that just sit in a drawer unused so it is at least worth a shot. Thanks for the idea!

Positions 4 and 6 cause minimal pain to me.
I love the foetus position too.. thats how I used to sleep previously. But lately I had to made a lot of adjustments.. It will be odd for the first week but you will get habituated to it...
