Hi all, Well my doctor went in to do the angiogram today for my renal artery stenosis and found there was no blockage there at all. Apparently I was the "1 out of 10 women who may experience a false-positive test" on the Ultrasouind. So he just pul;led out of me and he even checked my arteries in my legs and said I had the arteries of a 20 year old! Well, that is a nice thing but I dont think I will go around bragging about that one!
So now, they found nothing and they are going to do a ultrasound of my legs next since I have those little ulsces on my feet. It was kinda weird but I also have them up near my groin where the artery is. They are black and look like they are scooped out. My husband tells me they are ingrown hair. What does he know. So anyway, they are going to do that this week and if they see evidence of venous incompetency they will send m to a vascular doctor.
Does anyone here have any knowledge of venous incompentcy? He said they were like variocose veins. I thought they would be ok because I know lots of women including relatives with varicose veins and they gripe about them but they just hate the look of them more than anything. I asked if they were like that then couldnt I just leave them alone? He said that they can be dangerous and tht I would have to deal with them. Any thoughts??? Due to Factor V Leiden and APS, it was decided my risk of a DVT or PE was too great to have anything done. My cardiologist was upset that the procedure was even recommended (DVT and PE are documented complications of the procedure). He told me to wear compression stockings on both legs. Both my legs swell but my DVT leg is much worse. I was told the main complications of venous insufficiency are swelling, and in severe cases ulcers and thickening of skin. That being said, I know someone who did not have a DVT but varicose veins, who had the procedure and she was very happy with the outcome.
