Arg! Fell down the stairs!

Ugh,
Almost 1 year to the day from my meniscus surgery that gave me dvt, I fell down the stairs in the morning and of course slam my bad leg so hard on the ground. Twisted knee to boot and my heel is swollen that I can only walk on the toes.

Took 2 nato right after and a xarelto this morning, tylenol and leg compressions. My knee is swollen but my calf is in pain, hopefully muscular from the jog i took yesterday or walking on my toe all day. No rush of pain when i stand, just tight calf when i want to take the first few steps after having my leg up.

That's not good! I suspect walking on your toes is causing the calf pain. Are you using ice for the swelling?

Can i just get an ice-shaped boot already for my leg? Lord only knows how much i needed that is year right? Elevating all day and watching Ladies of London :)

Went in for doppler this morning and results were negative. Still chronic changes present, but rather that than DVT. Thank God....my inlaws are coming this weekend and I didnt want that on my mind.

Good. It's unnerving to really hurt yourself after a DVT. I recall wiping out at a water park, slipping on wet concrete and landing on both knees so hard not too long after my DVT and it really shook me up for a minute. Ii think you spend so much energy babying that leg so that even when something happens that's not clot related or that would cause a clot, you sort of do that whole AM I OK??? assessment.

I injured my ankle and heel a few years back, It swelled so badly I couldn't walk on it or put the heel on the ground. After two days of "toe walking" as you describe I finally started home made hydro therapy. A plastic kitchen waste can. Cut off at the level of my knee when my foot was 2 inches off the bottom.. A Pool "noodle" cut down one side and used as padding over the cut edge. And a Power Head for a fish tank ( I got one for a 55 gallon tank). The power head sucked up water and sent it out in a jet steam to act like a whirl pool.. I could add cold or hot water as desired and let my ankle/foot soak in it
It worked great, helped relieve pain and swelling and was easy to store reuse when I needed or when I wanted a spa day for my feet

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
