About 3 weeks ago I was up late, I have insomnia, it was about 3 am, I heard a noise coming from our living room, I thought it was Boss doing his night time rounds, he thinks he is a security guard. I walked into the living room and could not believe my eyes, Boston was standing on the couch with his face in a yougart cup. I could not believe what I was seeing, Boss is not allowed on the furniture, I've only caught him in the couch maybe 3 times in the 4 years we have had him, and obviously he is not allowed yougart. I told him firmly, but quietly to get down, he immediately laid on the floor, looking up at me with those big brown eyes so sad, and yougart on his nose. That was the first time Boss has ever eaten anything he wasn't given, I sat on the floor with him until he realized he was no longer in trouble.
Boston has had a very severe middle ear infection for over a month, the night it all came to a head frightened me to death, his eyes were moving sideways, he was drooling buckets, he was breathing so hard and fast I thought his heart would explode, I really thought he was dying. I took him to the emergency vet, they examined him and told me what was wrong. After many vet visits and hundreds of dollars his ears are better, but the infection was so powerful he got Horner's Syndrome, a nerve condition. in Boston's case it causes his head to tilt tot he side and his left eye doesn't blink or close all the way. He also loses his balance, especially if he turns a corner, we often hear his head hitting the walls, luckily he has his "Dad's" hard head:D
Boston will be 8 years old on 9/26/11, we have had him nearly 4 years and hope for many more, he has definetly been a blessing in our lives and home.
My mutt Charlie came to me from a family that loved him very much but could no longer keep him. At 2 years old he had basically 0 training, no manners, and almost no social skills whatsoever (with dogs, or people). With a lot of work/training/love he has become a great dog, and a wonderful cuddle buddy :). He is quite possibly one the sweetest dogs I've ever met, and when he wants to be he's a total gentleman. This September it'll be 4 years for him, and except for the first few months, they've been pretty great years.
My dogs are my best friends, they are full fledged members of our family, and I can't even begin to imagine what my life would be like without them.
Peace, feather
He is a treasure.
right now he is just taking up the chair next to me.
I am glad that we have him.
Love to hear that others like their pets too.

When me or my partner open the fridge, use the cooker etc,we don't often notice him behind (he creeps in). Then he touches our trousers or whatever with the edge of his claw and frightens us! He wants attention!
The bottle is almost empty so we will be going back to Petsmart so he can pick out another one very soon. I guess he knows what he wants to smell like:D
I have a pic of him and my hubby sleeping on the couch curled up together as usual when he was that little. He woke up just as I aproched with the camera and gave me this huge cheesy flappy toung smile.
A few weeks ago they were sleeping in the recliner and I went to take another pic. He is now about 60lb by the way. He did the exact same thing.
I love this dog very much, almost like a child.
We even took him on our honey moon the week after we were married. He loves people, and gets very excited when he gets to meet new people or animals. So mush so that when he was younger he would get so excited he would pee. Sometimes standing on his hind legs. He did this to the UPS man one time. He ran up to play with him, the delivery driver bent down to pet him and Gus jumped up on the guy. He got so excited he pee'd down the guys leg. I apologized, but was secretly laughing histaricaly. And I did laugh after he left. :)
