SC, thank you for the link. I do use as many ergonomic options as I can find. But unfortunately none of them help with the excessive scrolling issue. it seems every time I manage to figure something out, they screw that up too! I can no longer just do cmd + down arrow w/o now having to scroll back up past the new additional crap they added (popular posts & you might be interested in posts).

Please know I'm not looking to pick a fight or argue either. I just want to be heard by TPTB and have them address/fix the pain they have caused. They don't even acknowledge it. :-(( And I can't say how much I appreciate all that the CLs do on our behalf. I understand that its ds and its PTB that are responsible for this disaster, not the CLs.

I've been on ds since mid 2007 and I MISS what we had, especially the EASE in which we could navigate the site, the various features and all of the options we had to access and support each other. Most of those are gone now and what's left are ineffective and hard/cumbersome to use. Most of my friends who have left have said they left because of the changes. Those few that are still here aren't on as often and complain in journals and pm's about how ineffective the site has become.

Sadly, search no longer works when looking for members and it seems to still bring up years old posts instead of the new ones! There is no order to the results. We always had ways to order the search feature, both for posts and members. Now, NOTHING useful, not even when it bothers to populate results, which is doesn't always do. (Same w/our friends list has no options to sort and make no sense in the way they are organized.)

I just did a search for my alter ego MTC (that I had to create when I couldn't sign in for weeks after the new site was dumped on us). The results came up with one member, BUT it's not me, it's "transportation." So I'm wondering if members with private accounts (i.e. friends only) don't show up in the search. They used to!

Well, I just disproved my theory. I just did a search for "SunCloudJD ." I checked your profile first and saw that it is open. BUT, the search results show "0" members.

The current search results for SunCloudJD all up come with "0" except for posts. There is NO way to order the posts results in date order. And they are definitely NOT in any kind of date order. They also aren't in any order as to whether they were your OP, your comments or something someone else write that just mentions your name.

There are no options to look for or sort the results for a member, journals, groups or posts individually. AND, there is no column down the right side. It shows up on the left (both in safari and firefox). BUT I had to scroll all the way to the BOTTOM of the page before I could see it using a laptop. It's exactly the same using two both browsers.

This is what the column looks like:
all content (68)
members (0)
journals (0)
support groups (0)
posts (highlighted, but no number)

Rather than do an exact copy/paste of the search results, I'm just listing the dates in the order they appeared in the results using both safari and firefox. (The results were the same as far as I checked)

This was using a mac laptop. Maybe search is different on phones and tablets, IDK because unless I'm traveling, I only use my laptop to access the net. When traveling I use my tablet and don't go on ds that much. I never use it on my phone except for today when I testing something for another thread.

I was just thinking, and what I miss most, was the home page. There was a huge hug book in the middle and access to various things like friends, account, journals etc on the top left hand side. In the middle left, under that, was DS groups. Under that was member groups. So open up DS, and you had everything available at one click. On the other side, the right hand, was a list of current things happening with friends, and other things that were open, like journal entries. Going to someone else's profile that was a friend was easy. It was alphabetized! Never forget that is one thing that made DS work. It was easy to find a friend, and contact them through the friend's list. I have no idea who my friends are, anymore, I refuse to scroll through pages and pages of names to find someone to send a hug or message to.

And speaking of hugs, they were not twitter like this place pretends to be. I just about left again, trying to send a hug back to someone, but I had run out of characters. So, a second hug with only a few words? Or text speak? Sorry, not a language I know. The old DS, the hugs were all showing. So if I went to a person's hug book, and someone else had hugged them that was a mutual friend, it was easy to send that person a hug, too! That is what facilitated support and helping one another. I have not a clue anymore what is happening to anyone, unless they go out of their way to send me a truncated hug, or a message. Most of us understood that a hug was public, and a message private, and tailored our hugs accordingly.

Finally, speaking as the Founder of a member group, you could see all the groups anyone was in that was either a friend, or had an open or DS members profile. That is how I found all the Christian groups, and I had many people join my groups, because they had seen it on someone's profile. I miss that, and it also helped the groups grow, which is not a possibilty any more.

All in all, I really want the old DS back. Really, really, really, really want it back! This website is a joke, in every way, shape and form. I'm tired of scrolling, the somber colours, the total lack of being able to communicate with people, and the barriers that are everywhere in this forum.

I have been hanging on for dear life. I am frustrated that even having the name at the top for a return hug was taken away in the last "update." Was that by plan or accident? I guess we will never know.

It is a farce to keep saying this forum is going to work like the old DS because it never will It is a difficult forum to use even on a computer. It seems to be totally designed for young people to negotiate, with no allowance for the pain of scrolling. It fails to be a support for people like me.

I had a bad day today, a knee subluxed last night for no reason. I thought I would come here to be encouraged, instead, I find myself frustrated and totally missing all the interaction we had on the old DS.

There is only one solution, and that is to design a forum with the identical features and format of the old DS. Then, migrate there and abandon ship! Everyone to the life pods! Abandon ship! Abandon ship!

This site is dead. I stopped coming here months ago after realizing they will fix nothing. Just checked it again, nothing changed.

The "remade" DS is the worst-designed website I've ever seen. It reminds me of production quality back in USSR, where every object was made to meet a minimal function, without regard to convenience or aesthetics.

I don't know where anything is, who sees what, where are the group categories, what's going on, why do I see 2 posts per page... they just want people to leave. And I kind of wish all the people would leave.
