hi, the Cls are due to have a call with DS.  I'm trying to pull together a complete list of issues and then it will be sent to DS - I'm also trying to group stuff. I've got a long list - some from this board so you may see bits of your replies quoted. If you think there is something missing please let me know.

AFFECTING MEMBER GROUP ADMINS

1. While people need to join to post a new thread – you can post a reply without joining which is causing issues. I assume you can't ban them if they are not a member.

2. Lack of basic admin tools.

3. Cannot close a group as a founder. Cannot create admins.

4. Inviting friends to join your user group reportedly do not work.

5. member group is so full of formerly DELETED threads, I could NEVER clean it up. Hundreds of 'em, .. going back 6 years or more on some. Seems the transition INCLUDED deleted threads. Nightmare.

AFFECTING ALL MEMBERS

General Appearance/ Settings / Design

1. Size of static images. Fed back that this takes up too much real estate. Reduces the number of posts (was 15 standard view on old DS, now down to 10). Viewing a board requires scrolling just to see any posts. Fed back multiple times – why was the advice of Cls and members ignored?

2. Colour scheme and fonts for text. Pale grey doesn't work for anyone.

3. Sometimes the fonts on the same page are small in some places, larger in other. This upsets people with serious vision problems.

4. Userability for people with visual impairment – one member says "as a person who uses JAWS (Job Access With Speech) from Freedom Scientific (as most persons who are blind do), where the old site had it clearly labeled for logging in, I have to click on something I do not necessarily want to read in order for a log in screen to populate. I am not sure how it is in the US, but I know that here in Canada, sites need to be accessible to assistive technology users as per the Canadian disability act. Did the designers of this site take into consideration persons who use assistive technology? I highly doubt it because I find it very confusing and not easily navigatable

5.Need to be able to open DS links in a new window (vet)

6. WE WANT SPECIFIC DATES ON THINGS! "4 days ago" may be meaningful, but when we go through old journals looking for a specific entry, knowing that we are in the range of "9 years ago" is not much good when looking for a specific date 9 years ago.

7.The Help page, especially the hot line numbers, need to be SUPER EASY TO FIND!

8. All the posts that were on "off topic" on war & terrorism are now back on the main board. Not sure what has happened on other boards.

9. We need the crisis boards added to specific groups.

Groups

1. The count of groups in a category seems to be off. When you see a category you get a number of groups, then when you go look at that category there are far fewer groups.

2. Mental Illness should not be lumped in with Addiction & Mental Illness Category – especially when there is already an Addiction & Recovery category.

3. No value in "Most popular" and "Trending Groups". Members are unlikely to join Bipolar because it's trending when their partner just died? This seems to be a social media thing which is totally inappropriate for a support site?

4. No value in "Recommended Groups" when they do not appear to be related to the members accounts but are merely rotated. For example I got "Euthenasia" recommended for me which is certainly not something you want to recommend to bipolar members because there are times when this might be seen as a "sign" and our suicide rate is 10-20 times the rest of the population.

Mobile Devices issues

1. I just tried to log in using my kindle fire. the dailystrength heart emblem that is in the middle of the banner at the top is clear over on the far right where it says login and register which means you can't click on either one of those to register or log on.(Sambod)

2. In portrait on a tablet on firefox login button does not appear (acuriousfish)

Newsfeed

1. when you click the daily strength icon at the top of the page, it takes you to a news feed of various posts. Unfortunately it does not tell you which group these are posted in?

2. some groups such as depression, when I click show more box on news feed, does nothing

Posts & Replies

1. The reply box default size is too small. Yes, I know it can be resized but you are asking people to do that nearly every time. The developers are still thinking social media with one word / line answers. Doesn't work for a support board where answers tend to be longer.

2.We need the ability to format our replies, things like carriage controls must NOT be edited out. Likewise for multiple blanks.

3. Topics need to display the date they were created, and the date of the most recent reply.

4. See more replies just adds to the list – if you need to find something from a week ago it becomes very confusing.

5. Need more than just 10 posts on a page.

6. When we reply to a topic (like this one) please leave us positioned at the "last page". It is not so bad when we reply to a topic that only has a couple of pages. But really, why would I want to go back to page 1 of replies when I have spent time reading all of them???

7. I want to double down on the need for formatting tools in replies. Mostly we need multiple spaces to be left as they are typed, and we need carriage controls to be left in. These are musts, they have to be, there can be no negotiation on this. Sometimes we get people who are in serious need, and our replies must be several paragraphs long. If the reply is jumbled into one paragraph it becomes unreadable. If we break it down into multiple replies, we run the risk of other people replying and making the chain difficult to follow.

8. Need to be able to jump to the last page without having to scroll down to the bottom of the default page.

9. The one other thing that I would like to add is that if we are able to add links soon that would be wonderful...

Privacy

1. Heard from a user that privacy settings are not working, that stuff can be seen from the internet without regard to privacy settings. Need to investigate that one. (pepper)

2. Members reporting private journal entries appearing in the newsfeed

Friending/ Friends/ Members

1. Friending – cannot send an explanation with a friend request. As you can't see much info on profiles including to see if you have any groups in common people will wonder why they are getting the friend request? This is likely to be more of a problem for newcomers.

2. The Friends list is in random order. We need to be able to sort/query by alphabetic, on line status, etc. Just like the old system.

3. Can't see which members are online in a group without endless paging. Should be able to order by online, date joined, alphabetical.

4. The friends list copied forward seems to have gone into the past and resurrected friendships that had been ended years ago.

Accounts/ Notifications/ Alerts

1. Unable to clear notifications

2. Can't change notifications – I curently have 94

3. e-mail alerts cannot be changed

4. board memberships not shown

5. member activity feed doesn't indicate what boards threads are posted on

6. cannot change status line

7. Ideally ALL things related to our profile should be accessible on a single page without needing to scroll.

Messages

1. Showing unread message when all have been read. Previously that was down to old DS messages going from read to unread. I can't even see any DS messages this time. Status of messages not particularly clear in inbox.

2. Viewing more messages results in simply adding more to the list – many of us have large numbers of messages so the list can be 500 on a single page.

3. People often compose a PM and have multiple people in mind. We need our friend list available to us when we set the distribution list! People are likely to forget the spelling of their friends user Ids and so won't be able to PM them.

4. Get rid of or allow turning off delete confirmation of private messages ... including SENT ones. Also, raise the limit on Discussion Title characters.

Hugs

1. I was looking at my hug book. I get it, it is nice to see things like "today" and "Yesterday" instead of a date. But "6 months ago" does not cut it. I want to see the date of the hug.

2. when I send a hug to someone, the field for entering my message is without limit.  However, after I send it, it is truncated.  If there is a limit to the message length, it should be indicated when it is being written.
