Whats happening?

DailyStrength will be migrating to new servers, and weve tentatively set the date for this coming Sunday, October 23rd. This update will improve our sites hardware architecture, putting us in a better position to support our growing membership.

How does this affect me?

DailyStrength will be up and running during the migration, but it will be in read-only mode, which means you can still read discussions and articles, but you will not be able to log in to post, comment, journal, or send messages.

As we get closer to the date, well post again to confirm the details.

crazygurl175 I believe Daily Strength means that during the "transition/migration" change time,you won't able to journal,but its only temporary. Not a permanent/on going change.

Do DS know or estimate how long this migration will take?

It can be hard to estimate things like this. Little things pop up, and some of them can cause delays. The way I treat migrations like this is to mentally add some time to any estimate, find something else to do while the system is down, and take it easy.

Then I check more often than necessary and am happy if they are up before my personal estimate!

Hi everyone!

Just an update: The migration will begin on Saturday 10/22 during the evening EST. We have tentatively set the start time to 10pm EST, and the migration may take up to 16 hours.

DS, Question. What time in EDT does the "read only" period begin. Your reporting a tentative start time of 10 PM EST. Does that mean that your tentative start time is 11 PM Eastern Daylight Time, for those of us who hang out here on the East Coast?

An 11 PM EDT start time for a 16 hour read only period would last till about 3 PM EDT on Sunday.

It's worth the 'outage' due to the better or longer term performance on the new hardware. Am just needing to clarify the start time, so I can explain the outage to my DS friends.
