I have been a faithful member of DS since July of 2007 (earlier actually but that's another story).
Okay - every time I have trouble signing on - or the system dumps me off - I figure soon DS will have things back to the way they were when Doug Hirsch was around. So I keep coming back.
Unfortunately instead of being fixed - things keep going wrong. So - today I started looking around for another site to join - one that offers support. While I have not come upon anything yet that I think would be comparable to this site - I am going to continue looking.
There comes a time when these responses from DS - which say nothing except "we're working on this" or words to that effect, become insulting. I'm beginning to feel as though no one intends to work on anything - and we are just being strung along.
This is not the way to keep members. What IS going on? Yes this site is free - but there are a lot of sites out there that are free - most sites are supported by advertising rather than membership fees anymore......
Over time this site just keeps getting worse and worse - what's up with that? You need to listen to us DS - or you will lose your membership. It is crazy to let a quality site go downhill like this. Building a site back up is a hell of a lot harder than maintaining it in the first place.
I had to wait for about 45 minutes to sign on after I got dumped - and right now I"m angry - so maybe it is not as bad as it appears to me right now - but COME ON! Do something you guys to fix this place.

I couldn't get on last night, or again this morning...................I went to a chat site that someone started (from here) and the more DS is down........the more folks will show up there..............pretty soon, they won't even bother coming here...........

I've also been a member since 7/07 (under a different name). I used to spend a good deal of time on DS until the migration. Along w/many others, I've reported and re-reported all the problems. I quit doing that about a month ago because nothing changes.
For all intents & purposes I have stopped using DS because its too much trouble. No emails mean I have to check on each one of my friends, one at a time, to see if they have written a new journal. No activity feed (& before it died, it was inaccurate) I also have to go to each group to see what's going on.
I do NOT have the time or the energy to do that. Now I only come on once a day to check messages.
I used to recommend this site a lot. Not any more.
Imagine if you are new here and you run into these problems?? Folks just look the other way and find sumptin else:(:(
Some of us die-hards are trying to hang in hoping for the "fix" to come through........but hell.....its been months...........and nuffin seems to be happening........if anything, it gets worse..............more things break:(:(
So........new folks don't stay........old folks finding alternatives...........sad, sad, sad:(:(

Maybe it's because Doug sold DS a few years ago and no one else is all that interested in keeping this site active.
I think one of Oprah's production companies took DS over - or something like that and it just is not running the same.
What a shame - I used to love this place - now I'm just irritated by this place most of the time. Debbear will you send me the name of that site you go to when you can't get onto DS?
And as long as we're talking here - what's up with this TEAM DS? I find their rah rah attitude to be annoying too :) We don't need contrived "exciting" things to get interested in - we just want our old site back, imo.

I haven't actually experienced any of the difficulties I'm just now reading about here.
I'm really really sad to see that the manager of this site is so clearly absent and that people are leaving.

You might think of signing up with other websites as a backup plan in case you decide this one isn't for you anymore. However, I still haven't found any other websites where the features are so easy to use as DS.
I used to log on here first for all the laughs we used to have. Remember those times, when sometimes we'd have over 100 witty, facetious and ingenious comments.
Those really were the days!!
