A while back I had extreme pain in my side while at school & ended up going to the hospital when it wouldn't go away.. I was rushed through triage & into an exam room. They did tests & I was scheduled for an ultrasound of my entire abdomen. Main reason was because they thought I had gallstones (it runs in my family). Results came back negitive & wasn't scheduled for anything else to be done about my pain.
Since that little attack about 3 months ago I have been in constant pain & having to deal with annoying nausea. Nothing helps.
I was talking to a family friend who was diagnosed with Crohn's a few years back & is in remission at the moment, she described what it was & I continued to do some more research. I've been missing school a lot lately because of pain & I get exhausted extremely easily. I practically passed out in English today & the pain just kept coming. I feel like I go from my bed to the bathroom & back again, all day long. I found out that my father has IBS & so did his father, I am not sure what I have but whatever it is it is causing waaay too much pain. I was hoping someone here could help me out? I have a doctor's appointment tonight but she is clearly idiotic!
Symptoms;
-nausea
-heartburn
-occaisonal diarrhea
-upset stomach
-exhausted easily & frequently
-bleeding when having a bowel movement
-constantly thirsty
-loss of appetite
-unexplained weight loss (20 - 30 lbs in 3 - 4 mos)
-bloating
-constipation
-feeling weak/unmotivated

Symptoms of UC/Crohn's can be pretty variable, but what you're experiencing sounds pretty suspicious. Are you scheduled to specifically see a GI doctor? If so, I would hope that they would want to do a colonoscopy sooner rather than later given that you've been dealing with your symptoms for so long. Hope your drs appt goes well and keep us updated!

I recommend a colonoscopy. It sounds worse than it is, but it's a great diagnostic tool. Basically you drink clear liquids all day the day before and drink something to clear you out. The day of the test they put you to sleep and you wake up most likely with answers! The doctor can look and see if everything looks okay and can take biopsies to have tested for Crohn's or UC or whatever else.
Also when I was in junior high I was having intense stomach pains that would hospitalize me. They couldn't find anything and this was before they could do a test to check how your gallbladder is functioning. I think it's called a HIDA test. And my ultra sounds, tests and scopes were normal. But they took my gallbladder out anyway and found sludge and crystals! Even though my ultra sound said that I was normal- I wasn't! So sometimes they miss things.
No one is going to diagnose you without a colonoscopy :). I really hope you get to the bottom of this and feel better soon :)
I hope that you are feeling better after seeing your doctor. I hope that your pain is decreased and that you are able to attend school again. Mostly I hope your pain is less. That will wear on you a lot.
