Hi all, just wanted to update you on my success with Remicade. It is a success, fingers crossed! I had my third treatment last week and all symptoms have disappeared. I have been off of the Asacol for 2 weeks and am down to 5mg of prednisone and will be off of that in less than 2 weeks. That's been the hardest part, weaning from the prednisone. I've been on it for almost 2yrs and I really feel the effects of weaning, but it is well worth it. I saw my Gi last week and he said remicade will be my drug until it stops working, and then surgery would be my last resort. So, lets keep our fingers crossed that the remicade keeps working! At my last treatment there was a man getting his 80th infusion and was doing fantastic. I feel great and have not experienced any major side effects so far. I hope everyone else is doing well too!

Glad to see Remicade is working for you. I take Humira and it works for me. I inject myself twice a month. I think they are similar drugs. Take care.

Hi Melanie, I am new to the group here. Glad to hear about your remission. I am going to see my Dr. next week, and will probably start Remicade shortly after that. Azathioprine has been a dud, and I want to flush my prednisone down the toilet. :) Lialda used to do the trick, but no more. Anyway, congrats! I hope to be sharing some good news in a few weeks as well.

Hi! So glad you're doing well!! My 6y/o daughter is having her 3rd infusion tomorrow. Did it take 3 for your symptoms to subside? We've seen a tiny improvement, but not really much to be wowed with. Layla starts 1st grade on the 15th and I just want her o be able to go.

Hi Nayeli, it was actually 3 days when I started to see a great improvemnt. I just had my 3rd treatment last week. That being said, I was still on prednisone, I am now weaning off of it and since I got down to 10mg I have seen a few symptoms reoccur in the last day or two. I'm now going down to 5mg but even still the few symptoms I have now are nothing compared to what I was dealing with before Remicade. And I was told it may take a few doses before results are seen, I guess I was lucky it helped so quickly and I now know that the prednisone was helping too. I so hope it helps your little one, that is so young to have to deal with this. It must be tough on you as well. I'll pray and keep my fingers crossed that it works.Take care!
