Hi everyone. I have to say I can't their are so many people out there, battling Crohn's and Colitis. I wouldn't say I'm happy I'm not alone, but it's nice to have supporters who can help you through the rough patch. I'm been suffering from it for 5 years now and no one expect my parents know about it. I have amazing and very supportive friends, but they had to leave the country. I'm still in contact with them and they are absolutely amazing. I didn't want them to know, however, because I feel like they might treat differently. This isn't a psychological issue, this mainly physically internal and it can't necessarily be fixed through therapy. The psychological issue of never being cured or going to die thoughts can be, but THERE IS A CURE. SOMEWHERE OUT THERE. I've managed to contain it a while but the longest I've gone without symptons in 1.5 years. I've tried all the possible meds out there from steriods to infleximaps, but they are only temporary. It's great to be here and hear about how everyone copes with it. It's great to have supporters out there :)

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I can't imagine keeping this from friends. That seems too lonely to me. I suppose I cope just by going about my life as normally as possible. That doesn't work every day, but it feels like the only thing to do.
I hope you've found what works for you.
I've told my story many times.
I hv UC, in was uncontrolled for over 13 yrs. It became where I was on prednisone round or in bad flare continually. Finally a couple years ago, I went to accupuncturist/chinese med guy to oversee my care. He was terrific. I know some have had not so great experience w this. It did not happen overnight, but I went into my first 8month long remission, using only a few days pred, the acc, "herbs he prescribed that helped greatly w my continual loose stool. I think it was the 2nd year I went on a 2month congee diet. Look it up. basically rice, but cooked for hour or so. That was 90% of my diet for 2months! Continued acc and herbs. Went into my 2nd 8month remission. These were the 2 longest remissions of my some 16years of UC. Had relapse last year. Blame an outpatient procedure for effecting me physically. and perhaps heightened stress at the time. It was first time I was hospitalized, and for 3 days. But I had other issues going on, (even though they buried it, and then blamed me), but 3 days iv antibiotics cleared it along w othewr issue up, so if it was truly just a routine UC flare, well...the typical would hv been full round pred to contain it. That was a year ago. I've been fibe w it since and eat most anything I want. When/if I start feeling pain, I pull back and clean up my diet. BUT that never worked before my extensive acc, herbs, congee treatment. PLUS quittin even pt time work allieviating stress.
So what I am trying to say is do not discount alternative, non medically accepted help for yourself. Good luck.
