Did they pre-medicate you before the infusion of Remicade? You might have had a reaction to those..... __________________??

sorry to hear you've had such a bad reaction but longie could be right about you reacting to other meds as well, i did react to the Remicade and felt like i was suffocating but i think it was just a simple allergic reaction, yours sounds much more serious did they explain to you what had happened or why?
I hope your depression eases it's so easy to get down when nothing seems to work or it makes you worse!! BW

I too have that reaction to Remicade (tightness of the chest, flushed face, etc, etc). I can describe it sooooo well.... (but would rather not). Seems that I get the SAME reaction (briefly) when they put the steroid (solumedrol - spell?) through the IV... Makes me feel very anxious and I can't sit still.... I even warn them.... just in case they think I'm having a "real" reaction to the Remicade...

Yes I had the Solumedrol and the nurse gave me some Benadryl too and every time i got my Remicade I had that chest pressure, and was agitated , it was like someone was sitting on my chest and my heart was racing for couple of days, and that is not normal, its going to be worse and worse and now i have to live whit that depression and now I hate Remicade :(

Did you doctor tell you that the symptoms will go away with time? I imagine once you're off of it for awhile, everything will go back to normal. I'm sorry you're having to go through this!

I had the same reaction to Remicade when I was taking it for my crohns disease, it's very powerful stuff. I'd been off of it for over a year before I started taking it again, and had the reaction a couple of minutes into my second infusion. Started seeing spots, flushed face, tightness in the chest, lower back pain, etc. But in my case the reaction stopped a few minutes after they cut the IV drip, didn't have any long-term effects and I would hope that in your situation the same would be true and that it will clear up very soon for you! I've been on Humerra for awhile and it has worked well for me. Best of luck.

If you're having those reactions during the process, it sounds like it's the pre-meds they gave you. Solumedrol is a steroid like Prednisone.... and in previous threads on this site, people have voiced their experience that Prednisone has caused (or they think) depression, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, etc, etc....

Good luck to you! You might just suggest to your Dr. that you take a new pre-med the night before the Infusion, and then a low dose the morning of....

That reaction feeling is awful, i honestly though i was gonna die and my face felt like it was on fire!
Mia, if your having those reactions even though your taking meds before infusion, your doctors should rethink what they are giving you, it's not a nice thing to go through and if your getting depressed over it then you need more help or change your meds.take care x

No its wasent from the solumedrol because I had my remicade before and didnt have it and did the same side effects, and the gi doctor told me that it wasent normal to have the pressure on your chest for days and my heart rate was going up and had to catch my breath while i was talking, so every time i was going it was going worst and im talking depression pills now for helping me i was in a dark hole and Im not the same person i was before my last remicade, i slowly getting better but its very hard ans my son had second degree burn on his legs and harm, so its very hard for me getting better , i having a hard time but its going to take time to get like before, but im not taking that again it destroy my chistmas whit my son and no happy new year for me was in hospital :(

i'm sorry to hear your having a rough time , i too was in hospital over new year and most of Christmas hols too and it is the most depressing time to be ill and away from your family. I hope your son recovers soon it's worse seeing your kids suffer than suffering yourself Big hugs to you Mia x
