Yes, I've used it for over a year now. I would highly recommend you try it first along with a restricted sugar diet. It has made all the difference for me and many others. I have crohns, but LDN is good for any autoimmune and many other types of disease. I have also used LDN for over a year very successfully. I also use SCD and VSL #3. I think that these 3 things have really turned my health around. My diagnosis is pancolitis. The only other medicine that I take is 400mg of asacol once or twice a day.

Once you try it, it may take a couple of weeks to see a difference but stick with it. I was in your situation and they were talking about starting Remicade. I am so glad that I went on LDN. Please remember it is not an instant cure. I still had to change my diet and practice good self care but it made a huge difference. Good luck!

I joined this group so that I could respond to your post, Andy07. I have been taking 4.5 mg of low dose naltrexone daily at bedtime. It has given me my life back and kept me from meeting surgeons. These people not only don't think outside the box they HIDE inside the box. The time may come when they change, but not in time to save your colon. Dan I couldn't agree more! We have to be our own advocates for our own health!!!! After all, we are the ones living wiht the consequences of all of our medical and health choices. I used to be passive with my doctors, but not anymore, THEY work for ME! I finally found my voice after my GI diagnosed my UC after 3 years of telling me I was just a "nervous personality" and needed to relax! No more miss nice girl for me!

I do have a follow up question for any LDN users. Has anyone had experience in using a 50mg pill and disolving it into 50 ml of distilled water in order and measuring appropriately to get the 4.5 mg dosage ? I was concerned about absorption rate and wondered if anyone had experience with this. The source of the Naltrexone I found only had it in the 50mg pill. Thanks.

Andy07: I use the 50 mg and dissolve it also. Very easy and MUCH cheaper this way. Also, it's better to do it that way because not everyone does well on 4.5 mg. I can't tolerate it. I started at 1.5 mg and it worked wonders. I slowly increased up to 3.5 mg and noticed I was having more and more problems, so I went back down in increments until I felt the best. I've found that 2.25 mg works the best for me. So don't be afraid to experiment with the dosage to find the one that works for you. I get mine from River Pharmacy in Canada.

Thanks TashaR. I will keep this in mind when I start out. What type of reaction did you have that made you realize you couldnt handle the 4.5 mg dosage ? I have ordered from the same pharmacy and am just hoping I actually receive it. They said it will take about 3 to 4 weeks.

I was feeling foggy headed and my gut began giving me more problems instead of less. I never made it to 4.5 mg...I stopped at 3.5 and started going back down again. I would recommend you start low and go slow...watch how your body reacts. I think it also makes it easier for your sleep to adjust, as some people have trouble sleeping for the first couple of weeks. I applaud you for your research and not being afraid to "step outside of the box". Best of luck and please keep us posted on your progress!
