Just makes me wonder sometimes!
I wanted to take sulfasalazine but I am allergic to sulfa. Bummer!
Basically what it is for you is that you have inflammation in your body. Even if your GI tract is not flared up there is inflammation in other parts of your body and it is making your joints hurt. Many times when the GI problems are under control it means the inflammation is under control, but since you never really had that problem, it is hard to use that as a measurement for you. Even when one part of the body is not inflamed another part can be inflamed. Essentially what you have is a form of arthritis and you might need something to help you with that. Many times Humira or Remicade being taken for the GI problem also works for the arthritis problem, but you might need a little extra.
Basically though, no, it is not strange to have joint pain. I hope you are able to find some help for your joint pain.

I'm not poopooing the diet. I know people here who have had success with it and it's worth a try for people don't want to take meds or have exhausted medication options. But, we just shouldn't dismiss extraintestinal manifestations of IBD as merely food related issues. There is tons of medical and scientific sources on line about extraintestinal manifestations and this disease.
I wanted to mention it in case anyone read what I wrote here and was wondering what the hell I was talking about.
