My gas pains were HORRIBLE for the first couple weeks. I was worried that it would always be like that but it went away after about a month. Certain things made it worse so I did it really mild during that time. Dairy made me have the worst pains. I don't experience that at all now though. Also, it took a few weeks for me to get back an appetite too. What have you been eating? You can message me on fb if you need to. I don't get on here as often but I wanted to reply to your post. Know this - everything improves the farther from surgery you get.
I have maintained a vegetarian diet since my surgery, and I will say I still carefully control my diet. ONe of my initial disappointments, however, at least now the effort is worth something instead of being a shot in the dark with UC.
