hire a lawyer that specializes in this. they don't charge you till you get it . you just do what they tell you and you will probable get it. ssi is quicker to get and no interview. and you get medicad which is very important. once you get it everything falls into place. for now i would go to social services and ask them where you can get help. you probable can get at least food stamps. i wish you luck

I'm going thru the same thing. It's tough even with a Law Firm. I did everything online with a firm called Disability Group. The SSA will automatically cut the law firm a check for their share by law, and they will pay you directly. I'm pretty sure the law firm only gets paid for disability received up to that point at which you are awarded plus maybe a percentage of the first year. I've heard that Binder and Binder is the best. I hope this wasn't too late. I must say I have a lot of contempt for the system because the SSA commits fraud against those of us who legitimately need and qualify for disability by not approving it under the guize that they are trying to prevent fraud. The truth is they stall as long as they damn well please because the government stole and spent the money on something else. SS is already broke and I doubt my disability will ever come thru. Even if it does come thru there's a stream of red tape you have to comply with to keep it. The bastards aren't required to do anything to make us pay into it though, in fact they can put us in jail if we don't. Now if that's government for the people by the people, I'll eat my own poop! Guess what- not gonna happen.mm

They are idiots..they told me when i originally contacted them that i could not even apply since i had quit my job when i got too sick to keep working but did not apply for SSI because we were ok ...7 years later i did need it due to divorce, marriage issues.
I used a guy that used to work for SSI and got sick of them saying no to people who are genuinely in need of it. Once he got involved i was approved in few months!
They automatically turn down...that appt was just the beginning...you did not need all paper work..the person at ssi office will ask you questions.
Once that interview is done..you work with people on phone only...that is when all paperwork has to get done...if you hire someone they do it for you..but you must give them the names, of course.
SSI will give you list of people in your area that can help you..look for non lawyer ...that is usually a person who worked in SSI and gets how they work
Oh my guy said people on line are either non lawyers ..or just finish college so no experience. I had friend who worked with them..at least 6-9 months before i started...she never got it..5 yrs later!
also he said tv ads are scam too.when you need them to come represent you in court ..they back out since they do not want to fly people. Plus the stall as well..none of them get paid till you get it..so i do not get it. But do not use the online or tv one he said..and i trust him. He as so nice.

Thanx Siskiya, I'm going to the SS office armed with all my paperwork and medical reports. Question- Can I fire the law firm I've had for over two years and prevent it from getting a cut? I will try to locate someone to help me who used to work for SS, unless I would then be forfeiting even more of my disability. Anyway I will go to SS and see if I can get the ball rolling because I'm in very critical financial condition. Thankfully I have a very large and moderately successful family of which a small few came to my rescue during my darkest days and darkest hours where suicidal thoughts forced me into a mental institute.
