Well, this might sound really odd, but my oldest son won't eat vegetables either, so I trick him into it. Does your son like meatloaf? Throw a can of drained peas in there with the mix. It gives it a slightly different taste, but not enough to really make you go, "eh, what's this?" or anything like that. On actually gaining weight, wish I knew. I didn't gain weight until I got pregnant, so I don't have to worry for another 2 months about gaining weight back.

If he's lacking iron in his blood, which I'm assuming that's what you mean with the 7.7, he can take ferrous sulfate or something like that. Iron supplement. Since every case is different, I'd have him talk to his doctor about the iron before he actually starts taking it. I take it, but I have to take 2 a day. Sometimes with my Crohn's it will give me some issues, but you hafta weigh the effects on your own if you think it's worth it or not.

im 6'0 145lbs and i eat every thing and cant gain wait ill get up to 160 then go right back down to 145 or so i think its just part of having crohns but i wish him luck im not geting any help ether i get remicade every 4-6 weeks ive been on it for two years and its not realy helping i really want to try humera (sp?)but i have no insurance and the clince wont change my meds because they wont cover it so im kinda stuck

With my last flare-up I lost so much weight and was so depressed, and was malnurished, I started drinking Ensure plus, it now taste great, I like the chocolate, it taste just like a milkshake, I gained about 12 pounds.

ask the doc for some drink supplements like ensure you can get milk or fruit flavours they really helped me or complan is another good one. Good luck.

How about Ensure drinks? They are good for calories and gaining weight.

I lost more than 20 lbs after my recent hospitalization. I couldn't gain any weight for a week or so but I started gaining weight after eating eggs and rice every morning. I make poached eggs so it's easier on my tummy. I also eat alot of Tofu too.

rice based protein drinks while exspensive are easier to digest for people like us.
if your son is 21, not to sound mean, but he's got to realize that with a condition like ours you have to eat some things that are GOOD for u... even tho they may not TASTE to good!!!! does he drink aloe vera juice? helped alot of people on here but does not taste good at all...

you must be frustrated with him for sure. I have lost 25 with this crohns rice proteins or rice and chicken etc may work ... he needs to understand that this is a serious condition.. would he rather do 2 units of blood than eat fruits and veggies?? will his system allow him to eat them?/ good luck

Besides my numerous health problems I'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm very used to seeing people in denial and refusing to do what they must do to get well. This probably needs to come from a doctor not mom, but someone needs to sit him down and explain the reality of the situation to him. he has choices to make. Theses choices may be life or death at worst (sorry to scare you Mom) or at best between a reasonably normal life or a life of sickness. You didn't say how long he's had this, but it sounds to me Like he is in denial about it and just hopes it will go away. If you can get him on here I would be glad to write him a letter and corespond with him. Hope this helps I'm praying for both of you. Reed
