Hi , I have UC, not Crohn's but I struggle with joint pain in my hands, despite my UC being under control with Imuran. I've been taking Sulfasalazine for it and it does help me but it took a few months to notice improvement. Sulfasalazine is a drug they used to use quite a bit for RA, I understand.

I give myself weekly injections of methotrexate to help with my joint pain. It is also available orally. It has made a huge difference for me. I hope your husband finds a solution that works for him and he feels better soon.

Thanks guys, we are hoping the Sulfasalazine helps too. If not, we will move on to something else per rheumatologist.

I had to be patient with the Sulfasalazine. I still have occasional stiffness and occasional discomfort, but my hands don't feel quite so inflamed.

Yes from what I understand the Sulfasalazine can take anywhere from 8-16 weeks before improvement is noted. That's a very long time when you have that kind of pain but it has gone on for many many years and he had no answers. At least now we know what is going on.

Opiod Analgesics like Percocet and Hydrocodone kill the pain and are not dangerous for the gut like Iburpofen/Naproxen

I did the dance with Humira, and then went off it and felt the exact same pain.

Around the same time I went to pain control clinic and that medicine allowed me to lose vital fat from my mid section (from predinisone). The weight loss helped my back and neck, The Pain medicine allowed me to sleep 8 hours which reduced my stress levels. All that has helped me remain pretty productive.

I tried Methotrexate, all good until you get an infection like a skin problem or a lung infection like pneumonia. etc. Its a chemo therapy drug. Has many side effects.

I recently heard Raw Goat milk and Raw Garlic are helpful. While the first one is hard to find, any raw milk can help but also has risk. I read that with any raw animal milk is there is a natural anti inflammatory effect. Like Mommas Milk ...

Lots of ideas, of course he has to find what works for him. be careful with lowering your immunity with methotrex/humira
