It's a lot of trial and error and the parameters are constantly changing so you have to be vigilant and flexible for it to work at all.
I tried it their way for 10 years and took every pill they prescribed and never got any better. But they kept me coming back for more.
In January 2010 I tried the Specific Carbohydrate Diet again, having tried it and other diets before. This time I made changes to the SCD and took out a few more foods that bothered my gut. And have achieved remission, no bleeding since January, urgency and diarrhea took 4 months to go away.
So who's right. Me or them. Depends on who you ask.
If you ask me I would say that UC drugs do not have an effect on IBD. :-)
