I would LOVE to find a dietician that specializes with crohn's disease and is well educated on special diets such as the SCD. I've been to a dietician which was recommended be my GI doc but she was very "generic". She really didn't help with my specific needs. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions on finding someone local who could help. I know I could call the insurance company but I'd much rather have a better recommendation. There's got to be some out there, right???

When I was first dealing with my Crohn's and got fed up with doctors that could not tell me what was wrong I went to see an alternative medicine doctor. She put me on a two-week restrictive diet (not one that you could likely keep long-term) and within about a week I felt back to normal again -- it was life changing and one of the happiest moments of my life.

Her name is Wendy Pomerantz and she is located in Napa, California. I know that is not much of a help but maybe you could call and see if she knows of anyone one in your area? All I can say is that I was about to give up hope until I met with her and she put me back on my feet. Here is the link to her contact info if you are interested!

If you talk to hospitals that have digestive disease clinics (in larger cities), they typically have a dietitian on staff that specializes in our problems. The only problem is... that its different for everybody and what you can eat, someone else may not be able to.

YAY! That's what I am going to school to do :) I'm going to be a dietitian and try to work with patients that have UC and CD!

I have seen 2 dieticians and both were very helpful. Both of them recommended low residue diets and adding in more fiber as could be tolerated. This is easier for some than others! Even more difficult for these of us with lactose intolerance and other food sensitivities. Neither of them knew anything about the SCD or the Klein diets. I also had good luck going to a naturopathic doctor who specialized in diagnosing food sensitivities. This really helped me avoid trigger foods that were setting off flares. I would recommend trying this too if you are so inclined.
