Jonge - I am not sure what I did to stay in remission for 9 years.....it certainly wasn't diet related or anything else. I just got through that first flare and ended up being ok. Yes, it was brought on by stress - it took forever to figure out what was wrong, so it just got worse and worse as well. This flare-up was brought on by having a baby and stress as well. I didn't respond as well to the treatment this time (prednisone and higher dosage of asacol), which is why I tried the diet. I don't know anyone else with UC or CD personally, but I do know a lot of people on this site have done this diet with great success. You can read the reviews at Amazon.com - that is what really sold me on buying the book and trying it. I think I am going to buy the book you guys are talking about - it never hurts to get as much information as possible!
thanks for the info!
hey missallie,
was it stress that triggered it for you this time? i suffer from anxiety, and was under extreme anxiety, feeling absolutely horrible etc when i first fell ill and was diagnosed.
Jon
im 24 and have suffered from anxiety since i was 11. im sure that anxiety caused it for me as i always have tension in the stomach.
however it is becoming less and less all the time. i found a method that is really helping my anxiety. it is a natural method by a dr called claire weekes. it has been around since the 60's. the dr has since passed away however she has written many books about anxiety, here is one of her books called self help for your nerves on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Self-Help-Your-Nerves-Overcoming/dp/0722531559 check out some of its customer reviews
