I don't know what I have. Haven't gotten in to see a gastroenterologist yet. But a week ago my system decided to totally rid itself of everything; couldn't get off the toilet. Cramping was HORRIBLE and my sister brought me some lomotil which helped a lot. But the next day my stool was yellow with bright red blood, and burned so badly when it came out. I got in to see my reg. doc, and he ordered a c-scan. Result: thickening of the colon wall. That's it. I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy 3 months ago and they came back normal except for internal hemmorhoids (I had this done after having bloating and irregular bowel movements). Anyway, continued to have some cramping and bright yellow stool which burns like hell coming out. Usually only see blood once a day, and I truly think it's from my internal hemmorhoids being irritated by this terrible burning stool. Had a mild fever yesterday. The Flagyl and Cipro that my reg. doctor prescribed over the phone seem to be helping, but since I still haven't gotten in to see the gastroenterologist, I don't even know what I should and shouldn't eat. I know enough not to eat fried and high-fat foods. I've been eating rice, toast, and bananas.
I've had flare ups of bright yellow stools before, but not for days on end like this. Any advice?

Oh, and I don't know how to navigate around this site. I was wondering if there's a place on the site to see what the symptoms are for UC and Crohns.

Yellow stools can be the result of undigested bile that has not been reabsorbed when it is moved too quickly through the intestines and bowel. Generally, yellow stools can be the result of digestive tract conditions, viral or bacterial infections and parasites. It's important that a doctor examine and determine any possible diseases or disorders.

Thank you, crohnsrules. The Cipro and Flagyl seem to be helping a great deal. Not quite as much burning, and stools not quite as yellow. My urine is a bit darker...almost looks like there's a slight amount of brown tint to it, but not too much. Wondering if that is a result of the Cipro or Flagyl, but I don't remember ever seeing it before. I am seeing my primary care physician on Tuesday, so I will be sure to mention it then. Thanks again so much!

since you are going to your PC on Tuesday, you might want to call on Monday and ask for orders for stool and urine tests. The Dr will probably want those done anyway, that way you will have answers a bit sooner. Let us know what the Dr says, good luck!

Thank you, Fraz, I will do that. I have been able to tolerate food for a few days now, trying not to make stupid decisions. For instance, my husband got 2 huge dips of icecream and I had one little bite. I did not eat bacon with breakfast, did not have a fried egg roll or hot & sour soup at dinner (had shrimp w/ lobster sauce, which is about the mildest entree they had, and I only ate a few water chestnuts). Have had NO coffee (I will miss that - more for the taste than the caffiene. The antibiotics are working and things are getting back to normal, so I think I'll be able to add fruits and vegetabes back into my diet in a few days, but I'm going to have to study up on IBS a bit to try to figure out what to eat and not to eat. I've always been told that fiber is so important, and I'd tried to incorporate that into my diet the week before this happened.

Just when I thought I was getting better, last night I developed some nausea and lower back ache, and sure enough, now I have diarrhea and pain in my tummy. I ate a brownie yesterday which was my one NOT smart choice. I have no idea what to eat and what not to eat.
