I was dx with ulcerative collitus 3 years ago. I was prescribed Asacol. I stopped taking it about 3 months after that it made my legs feel like they were filled with concrete. They hurt so bad. I do have flair ups off and on. A month ago I had a really bad pain on my right side about waist high. It lasted for about 2 days. This morning I had it again and I was doubled over. It hurt so bad. UC came to mind, of course. When I got up this morning I have been leaking during the night. I only do that during a flair up. I thought massaging the area would help move things along. Nope that made me feel like I needed to throw up.After using the bathroom a few times it eased up some. Then I took a muscle relaxer. Don't know if that would ever begin to help. Has anyone else had this kind of pain? What meds do you take if you can not take asacol?

So Sorry it was my left side all this time. I read some discussions before I posted and everyone was saying right side. I hurt on my LEFT SIDE!!!!!!

it sounds like time to see your GI. pain like that is not good, and you may need something other than asacol to help you get the flare under control before it gets really bad. I hope you feel better soon.

There are many medications to try, so when the asacol wasn't right for you, then it's important to see your doc to get you on a treatment you can tolerate. Regardless of whether the pain is on the left side, or right, just see your GI doc to figure out what the next steps are. I hope you feel better soon too.

i had pain on my right and left side after seeing colonoscopy i could see that it was totally closed there. had to take anti inflamotory and predisone for a month then got on remicade. they didn't get very far on colonoscopy but also had a good cat scan too enough to see how bad i was. take my word for it you don't want your colon to rupture. some people can't take asacol like me

If you are in pain please see your GI doctor. Something else is happening inside your body. You need some updated tests.
