Hi guys,
I went to see a GI 6 weeks ago, and have gone downhill from there. i am having constant pain and nausea every single day. i have hardly been able to eat for 7 weeks. i get bouts of diarrhea every few days. and to be honest i can't live like this anymore,
i was given something for the nausea and an antispasmodac but that has only helped a lil bit. the first time i saw the GI (6weeks ago) he was convinced i had severe IBS by just running basic blood work.
i am not a stressful or anxious person, and i know stress levels or whatever have not triggered this at all. things have been really bad since before christmas and i find myself not being able to do much apart from going to class (if i can make it)
the appetite thing has really made it hard. i try and eat when i can, but with the constant nausea, even waking up a lot during the night with extreme nausea, and pain everyday. i don't know what to do. i know IBS can sometimes be used as a "label" and i was going to try and get better after seeing the dr last time. But things are still bad... what do i do?
i am seeeing the GI again next week. has anyone experienced the extreme nausea and loss of appetite as well as frequent stomach pain. Thanks :)

I have also had loss of appetite, and usually if I do eat something, it's plain oatmeal. At times, that's all I may eat for a couple of weeks until my symptoms go into remission. I am not familiar with nausea though, but it doesn't surprise me as these IBS diseases and disorders affect your stomach and intestines.
It can be frustrating to keep going to the doctor until a resolution or solution is discovered. My recent flare-up had me getting blood work done roughly 2-3 a week for 3 weeks. I was black and blue! But I kept going, and my doctors were able to help me out by running another biopsy on my colon and switching meds.
Keep going to your doctors, and if you're not sure you are getting the right care, go to another dr. A GI isn't (I hope) going to throw IBS around since he/she sees it all the time. With this disorder, I think it is so individual that you have to play around with your diet and meds and lifestyle until you find the right combo so you feel good and healthy.
