aloe vera is the way to go

hey everyone,

i havent posted on here for a while. i used to flare up quite often but ever since taking aloe vera ive been doing great, i hardly take my medication anymore.

i strongly recommend that you guys start taking it. ive been drinking alcohol and eating meat and ive been fine. i even went out every night of the xmas and was fine, whereas before if i had eaten some meat or drank alcohol the next day i would have diarrhea. i take the stomach soothing aloe vera juice.

Refrained from commenting until now as didn't want to be negative, but I also tried Aloe and it made me worse. I have crohn's, and thought I'd add for balance, now I've read the fibre thing.

Muss60, I don't know where you are but you can order georges on line. Or, you can read about their product online and try to find a similar product (with the laxative component removed). Many people advise aloe for IBD for its wound healing properties etc, but as others have said, you have to be careful because it can be a laxative. That's why I'd stick to Georges or something like it to be safe, though clearly others have success with other brands.

Thank you killcolitis... I found one called Lily of the Desert Aloe liquid (says it has a nice mint flavour) - excuse the expression but my *ss!!!; It tastes horrid, but I'm trying it. Also switched my probiotic to Ultimate Flora. Something's gotta give/help soon. If I'm in the early stages and feel this way, my heart goes out to you that are worse off (and I'm told I have a high tolerance for pain)!

Good weekend all (will keep you posted if this Aloe gel works). I understand it can help some and do nothing for others (so far Pentasa is doing nothing (been about 2 weeks now).

Well, yesterday I took this horrible tasting stuff as well as the new probiotic (ultimate flora) and I don't know which one would have helped or if it's a combo of both; but for the first time in a long time, I went to bed last night with hardly any bloating or cramping. Coincidence? Mind over matter? I don't know, but I'm happy.
