I think one of the coolest things about these remedies is that they are always administered with a large dose of LOVE! I remember I used to get numerous respiratory infections when I was little, and my mother used to make me a croup tent out of sheets over my bed. The she would direct the steam from the vaporizer into it, and I could play in there all day long. (Of course nowadays, I think the steam would kill me! I can't take that anymore.)
Thanks for the recipe for the poultice.
I enjoyed reading about your Mothers tent made of sheets to hold in the vapors from the vaporizer to help you feel better. Your Mother loved you...
Thanks so very much for sharing Sue...
Another one I loved was fresh squeezed lemon juice with a garlic clove finely chopped added a little honey mixed in. That was my mothers cough syrup. I still love the taste, and I think it worked just fine for us.
Love all, and stay well.

For an upset stomach, you took coke syrup (the same stuff coca-cola is made from - you could get it at the drug store).
The hot tea, lemon juice, honey and whiskey was called a "hot toddy" used for colds.
For bee sting, it was baking soda and for poison oak you took a bath in tea. (My doctor once said the reason this works was the tannic acid in the tea.)
For babies, it was cornstarch used for diaper rash.
In the wintertime we were always admonished to bundle up or we'd "catch our death of pneumonia" and the thing I'll bet we all heard to always wear clean underwear for what if we "were in an accident and had to go to the hospital". .
Yep. Much love there.
incase of an accident why? if you are in an accident you would probably dirty your under wear anyway.ha ha.
Lots of hugs to all...!
