Wow Boo.....thats a pretty big weight loss.........unless she has been in Rehab a long time.

But happy to hear is she doing good and you could spend some time with her:):):) Bet she loved that milk shake:):)

She was in the hospital for 5 months, and then just went to rehab last Friday. She sucked down almost 3/4 of that milkshake! She loved it, and I told her i'll bring her one everytime I visit!!! LOL!

Glad to hear she's doing ok. I know she enjoyed your visit as much as you did. Milkshakes always seem to hit the spot. You are such a good daughter.

Boo, when my dad was in the hospital for only 5 days, he lost 12 pounds. I believe a lot of the weight loss has to do with the hospital food. He eats a lot better at home.

Keep giving her the milkshakes.

I agree, my mom is not gaining weight in her home, the food sucks. I have been bringing her food and snacks every day. She doesn't eat much but does eat my food. I've brought her McNuggets and hamburgers, I'll try the milkshake. Good luck to you, keep the milkshakes coming and a burgers too.

I saw her and realized she had lost the weight she had gained in the hospital. The food in that hospital is actually very good. They revamped their menu, and I even liked it when I was in there last July.

I think with all of the craziness of having pneumonia, and being stuck there a total of 5 months, just kind of got to her, and even though they put her on an appetite med, and anti-depressant, she still lost her appetite. She was never a big eater at all, we had the 2 extremes at home. I ate too much, and she ate too little.

I will continue to bring her fattening milkshakes, and she loves McDonald's fried..more than she would love a quarter pounder! LOL!!

It was good to see her, and I didn't go up to the hospital as much as I should have, because of walking, and not feeling comfy with my balance and walking to much...because of my back.

I don't know how good a daughter I am, but i'm certainly trying to be a better one.

I've been handling all of her mail, and paying our bills, handling her dr appointments that I've had to cancel, and running the house ,and taking care of my own bills, and numerous dr appointments, etc..

I'm not complaining..it's just a lot some days, living here alone.

Thank you..yes, I do feel overwhelmed at times, and i'm not even working!! LOL!!

but, I love my family here, cause my own brother doesn't even seem to get it. Plus, with my upcoming gastric bypass/major abdominal surgery.i have tons more things to get accomplished before that, including eating a totally different way.

Hi Boo,

I just got home from being in the hospital for 2 weeks with pneumonia and a collapsed lung and I lost 20lbs. The hospital food lived up to the reputation! lol I'm so very blessed to have a daughter who took care of everything for me so I could concentrate on getting better. I'm sure your mom feels blessed to have you there with her too. Just try to remember to take care of yourself.

Mackate: Thank you! I'm glad you are better! I'm also glad that your daughter helped you. We will do ANYTHING for our parents! You took care of us, when we needed you. I just want Mom to be comfy, and have the best care. I'm kind of worried that this Rehab place is NOT the best, and am contemplating discussing her moving to another one. I don't know how hard that is.

She also has COPD, and emphysema, so her health is more compromised, and she has had pneumonia 4 times since January!

I'm trying to stay healthy, although I do feel run down, between my own DR's appointments, and keeping on top of things for my mom at home ,and with her at the nursing home.

i'm glad your mom seems to be doing better. i hope it goes better this time.
i only weigh 135lbs which i think puts me in a lower risk if i get sick as i always lose weight when i have surgery or illness.
now you have me craving a milk shake sure sounds good!!!
