I see you have no replies which is demoralizing. And I don't have much help. There must be medicated lotions that would work better but I'll put in a plug for coconut oil. It's my new friend for everything
cooking, slim, hair. It just seems so natural.

I don't take prednisone, but my skin is thin & tears so easy.
I constantly put lotion on my hands,but often get cracks on my fingers & also my feet.
I have used a medicated lotion & then put gloves (or socks) on my feet & wear when I am sleeping. If I get right on it, it only takes a couple of days to heal.
When I have let it get bad it sometimes takes a week or so.

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this, my thoughts & prayers are with you.

Dennis was on Prednisone daily for months. His skin would tear if you looked at it wrong.

Sorry I don't know either but I'm going with jh's suggestion of trying coconut oil. Love the stuff :) A little bit goes a long way so a jug of organic will last you a long time.

Try plain old Crisco shortening. Or, try cutting a stem off your aloe plant, peel, and rub your skin. Both, are very good. Thanks, hope it helps for home remedies.

For the last several years, I have been using avocado oil as a treatment for my dry thin skin. It is loaded with vitamins and penetrates the skin deeply. It also helps your hair and scalp. You can use it from head to toe.

I have the coconut oil and coconut cream too but my skin is still so thin that it bruises if you look at it, scabs that fall off and bleed all over. I blame it all on old age - 77- and being on blood thinners for life. My INR is frequently checked and is normal for coumadin levels so I don't know what else I should do. Go to a dermatologist?

Try using plain old Crisco in a can. Many doctors use this after surgery similar to facelifts.

@mchughirene - you wouldn't also be taking coumadin or warfarin or some blood thinner 'woodjuh' cuz those two together are compatible but lead to bruises and lightheadedness for a period of time after coming off the prednisone /h/

I have used Johnson's Liquid Baby Soap for years due to dry, cracking and bleeding hands.
It's the only soap I can use.
