I have put this info on line a couple of times but people come and go, so I will puy it in again. There is no resason to have periodict flareups in the lungs.
I have posted this info a number of times but I guess the people are always changing and new people coming in. I used to get lung infections every few months and of course they would put me on prednisone and antibiotics and in a couple of weeks I would get over the problem. This went on for the first year of the discovery that I had emphysema. I thought there has to be a better way then dealing with these infections every few months. I did a lot of searching and came up with SSKI. It is potassium iodide The point is, I have had only one lung infection in about 3years. You can find the info on it at the Tahomaclinic.com They have a paper on it and a lot more info. It is super cheap but you have to look for it at various places. I buy mine from world organic for about $3 for 2 oz bottles. You only use a few drops a day or if you feel like you are coming down with a lung problem, you might increase the amount. The MD Dr. Wright who wrote the paper mentions a couple other things because there is only one side effect, everything seems to have a side effect, you might want to have your thyroid checked now and then. You really do not have to put up with these periodic infections.

I personally in NO WAY believe everything the doctor says, or assume he/she is always right. I am just very cautious about what goes into my body, and a pill made for radiation contamination is not what I need.
Regardless of who tells me about a drug, I will search it until I am satisfied, even if it is my doctor and they prescribe it for me. They know i will question it and research it until I am happy with it or I will not take it and will call them back.
But I also do not immediatly believe every so called healer that comes down the pike with the magic cure for what ails me. No disrespet, and it may very well work wonders, but unless I see a lot more research on it, I will pass.....
I am on 1.5 lpm oxygen and have been for years, and other than antibiotics, only take one major pill for angina, a 2.5 felodapine. Our lungs are shot, we get infections , part of it, and if you have never had any type of lung infection for 3 years, you are doing something right, but ar you sure it is that med?
I will, out of respect for you, ask my pulmonary doctor what he thinks. Doctor's are not God, but they have gone thru extensive medical training, and the patient just needs to be proactive.
