I'm so sorry that you are feeling so bad.
Of course my obvious question is if you have seen your dr?
With spring here, we have cold one day, hot the next, windy the next & I just keep getting infections & I have had to have antibiotics twice now!
Allergies & climate change affects my lungs a lot!

sorry to hear also.....i also live with this chest tightness....ive given up trying to tell people what it feels like......

Just rub some Deep Heat or Pain inflamation cream, i keep getting told....I just smile n end the conversation....

and 100% agree the change in weather..last week was a glorious autumn time, not hot or cold, hardly any wind or rain, sunny........then yesterday the wins picks up, blowing a gale and suddenly im extra SOB....must be pollen or whatever flying around....

Oh I shouldn't even chime in I'm so much better off but I do feel for you. I can just take an Aleve and feel some better. Now I can imagine you smiling and ending the conversation : )

so sorry your feeling this...I get chest tightness a lot but it usually subsides after I take a neb treatment. It seems like, for me, it's my body telling me it's time to slow down...I tend to try to do everything until I'm terribly SOB & my ribs feel like they're in a vice! have you noticed it more when you're engaged in some sort of activity? do you get SOB at the same time? try to keep track of when this is happening & what else occurs along with it. may be you should see your doctor because it could mean an exacerbation. hope you feel better soon.

What does your Dr. say? It could be a number of things - many of us, including me, engage in too much self-diagnosis thus increasing anxiety followed by making matters worse.

Please, let us know what your Dr. says and then we'll go from there.

If I understand correctly, you can use your rescue inhaler and be ok then the tightness returns? So your inhaler is not working as it should, especially with the constant dropping of your O2. That is not right, especially with you on oxygen. I would suggest seeing your doctor for this as soon as you can, and if he has already seen you for it, go back to him and tell him you are not better,. He needs to give you an xray to make sure no infection or pneumonia is in there. Hope it gets better

My spring allergies hit me and my only symptom is chest tight and lung inflammation. Antihistamines help. Taking a 20 minute nap helps, Benadryl at night helps. June July November December and January help. Putting a hepa filter in heating HVAC system and running the fan all day helps. Allergy inhalers and Spiriva helps. Meditation helps. Hope you find something that will offer relief.

Thanks so much all of you! Dr can't quite figure me out I guess. I had chest X-ray, CT scan, was sent to heart Dr. I had the more complicated stress test and a bubble test. Yes I have a hole in my heart but so does 30% of the population. We are born with it.

Heart Dr said on my paperwork to come back in two years. He said hole should be checked out but it's not life threatening. He said we could do a type of angiogram that would tell us the size of the hole and even if it needs to be closed or not. They also said it could rule out Pulmonary Hypertension but I don't have symptoms of CHF.

This quick downward spiral happened right after PFT and my mom passed. 3 weeks later my sister passed and then my nephew. And my dog almost died. ...but how could that cause it? I think the PFT test could have done something?

That's a lot to go through in a short time. Sadness and anxiety both affect my breathing. Hugs.

I'm not sure I should chime in. However, I thought I should share that anxiety has a huge affect on my father's COPD. So be kind to yourself you have been through a lot. As for what to do about it, a lot of people on here have some good suggestions. I was also going to suggest an xray but it looks like they did that already. They always do a blood test and sputum test on my dad to make sure he doesn't have an infection, did they do that too?

Thanks everyone! Not sure but think even though the Albuterol rescue inhaler ..I believe helps me, at the same time it makes me worse.

I used it extensively and quit when I thought it was causing bad side affects. When I quit, I felt better for a week or more then got bad again. So started using Albuterol again and getting worse so now I will quit it to see if I am better. How crazy is all that?

I have a pack of Prednisone Dr gave me and some antibiotics. For if I had an exasperation in London. Still have it. Thinking of taking it. Something about Steroids worried me once about the dangers ...

Not asking for advice...just a What Would You Do?

I would call my & make an appointment as soon as possible with my doctor.
I would take a written list of all my questions & all my symptoms so I don't get "off track" as I tend to do.
I would write down (or record) what the Dr says & I would follow his directions from there.

ps. the appointment I would make would be with my PCP and if he suggested seeing any specialists then I would take his advice.

Yeh! sounds like a little too much trial and error on your part. Might as well see your Dr. and figure this out with something specific rather than - I'll try this. I'm not comfortable with the way that sounds. With your list, let the Dr. know what you've been going through. Could be a question of dosages, frequency, product, etc.. or something else.

I agree with Jarca and Joany. Your doctor needs to heck you out more thoroughly, and if he can't figure it out, call in some one who can. Albuterol is bad for stimulating your heart if taken to often, and your doctor would be able to prescribe fresh meds if you need any thing. Please get this checked out
