I use spiriva with no problems. My pulmonologist told me the other spiriva is better if the capsule spiriva causes you to have a dry mouth

I didin't see my last reply post??? We'll I've noticed the price for both delivery methods seems to be the same at CVS/Caremark. I would think the mist delivery might be more effective at reaching the whole lungs rather than the powder in the older version. It also appears the dosing may be a bit less which I have heard is a goal of using some of these newer delivery methods. My doc said it was ok if I wanted to switch over via an email. I haven't had an appointment to discuss it with him in real time yet. It looks like it is worth a try though.

Charley61, I switched over to Spariva respimat about a month ago and I LOVE it. It actually seems to open me better, because the mist goes farther. I was getting a lot of empty caps in my order and was tired of that and the powder in my mouth and throat. so my pulmy said it is ok to try it for 3 months and see if I like it. I did ask him by e mail and he ordered it for me , same price as the other.

At first it seemed I was not getting anything, because you very seldom taste anything, or feel the mist. So I called spariva, and they said I was for sure getting my dose, and if sometimes I see mist coming out when I inhale, that just means my lungs were not empty enough to hold it all, so I should make sure to take a deep breath then let it all out.

You have a bit if assembly to do, but it is simple and if I can do it, anyone can. I feel you would like it so much better than powder.

isnt it taken twice a day .....old spiriva is once a day .....respimat has no generic so I would be in donut hole by june....I will pass on it...

Not trying to get involved in this discussion but i take a once a day inhaler with built-in spiriva component and i feel much better or lets say not any worse..Its called Ultibro which is the newest version of Onbrez.

The gold standard COPD treatment includes at least 1 steroid med..SO i now have to take another puffer primary made for Asthma to prevent allergies...its called Alvesco..

Having said that we are on a different continent and always do things differently.....LOL..

Hi All, I have been switched over to nebulizers for my other drugs so taking Spiriva as a mist soundis like a good idea. I'll have to check it out with my next prescription in a month or two. Thanks for your replies.

Mchughirene, the respimat is taken at 2 puffs one time a day. The way it is set up, with the mist, it delivers 1/2 dose per puff. Gives you time to hold puff in, exhale, and wait a minute or two, the do another puff. This is only done once a day.

ADC has a tiova inhaler, and it is not the respimat, but still the same generic meds and not a capsule. What do you think???

I am on Anoro which works well but it is a powder inhaler and it give me laryngitis type effect. Hate that. I am going to ask my Dr. to give me the Spiriva Respimat to try. Hope it is better. Will post.

I have been using the ADC version of Spivria respimat, it is called Tiova. I don't see a difference between it and Spivria. I take two inhales 1 once per day.

@Charley61 - I got off the US brand Spiriva and opted for the clones from ADC - I started with the caps nad for some reason couldn't take them but ADC immediately sent me the tiotropium bromide inhaler (TIOVA) and I got the same relief for $10 that I had to Pay $265 for with the US Spiriva.

I was on the $54 per midi of Xopenex inhaler and bought some of the generic from ADC (LEVOLIN) as my rescue and seems to work just as well for about $6.00.
