I'm glad to hear that he's getting the help he needs. It's so frightening to be SOB. I go into a panic every time no matter what I try to tell myself. My prayers are with him.

I am a person who started out using o2 only for sleeping. That was over 10 years ago. You may have to bite the bullet and see a doctor and go on o2 - I'll be thinking about you and hoping you don't need to yet but this thing is progressive and believe me I've progressed and I'm afraid this time I'm not going backwards. At level 5 you don't have too much further to go before to have to change oxygenators. I used to be able to throw my o2 aside, turn off the machine and just huff and puff my way thru the day as I did my chores. I hate this hose with a passion so I'll be sending you BIG HUGS AND BEST WISHES that after a doctor visit you can get improvement without it.

Hi.....hey just want to say a huge thanks for all the lovely posts which I haven't really taken in as yet....Just got home 2 hrs ago after 8 days and im dead beat from lack of sleep and experimentation......

To put it in a nutshell, I had an acute attack, with both lungs not moving any air....As the Capt. said it was treated by huge doses of antibiotics, continuous O2 at 1ltr....and blood ph adjustments, x-rays, heart ultra-sound n stuff I have no idea about yet...

I need to sleep now so I will catch up later with all of you....Love Peter

yikes Gwapo. that sounds pretty scary. So glad you're home. The experimentation part made me laugh and cry.

Good to hear you're back home. Hopefully you received all the support you needed. Take it easy and do what you gotta' do.

It is so good to know you are back home!! That must have been scary Peter. I am happy you are better, but please do not hesitate if this ever happens again. I pray it does not!! If you have to use 02, then use it. Follow the doctor's orders and when you feel like it, we will be here .

hey Peter...its nice to sleep in your own bed and not get woken up every 3 hrs for tests and meds isn't it?!! I ask for a sleeping aid now cuz I know what to expect in the night and the nurses just move the arms themselves to apply the meds and tests.

What really helped me out to prevent future exacerbations is to keep a set of antibiotics and prednisone at home with you. I know that Gene and Bill mentioned this with their preventative maintenance programs as well as a bunch of others. This will save you the $$$ from going to the emergency ward at the hospital and will keep that exacerbation at bay.

As soon as you start to produce a congested chest with that greenish brownish mucus, its time to start the preds and antibiotics. Since I started this program, I haven't had an exacerbation since June. I can get prednisone refills from my Dr but he won't give me any antibiotic refills. So I just go to ADC online and order the antibiotics from them. You can get everything from ADC and not worry about paying for the Dr. visit just to get a med script. Anyway, glad you're doing better and at home. Have a blessed day mate.

Hi....slowly getting switched on again...yep this constant taking of vital stats every few hrs at nite even though there is nothing to see drives you insane...
Capt....I do have Azithro n pred. with me and ive learnt how to be pro-active but what I have taken from this is that you must go with your gut feeling....im 100% sure the next time I feel im out of some sort of control I will head into hospital.....
