I don.t think it was the antibiotic that caused my problem, but I read where some medicine can cause a sore tongue, like seizure meds and blood thinners. Mine was just not rinsing well after the inhalers and all those neb treatments thy gave me.
OK Capt, I have totally NOT helped you a bit. Someone in this group will have a good answer. But you need to eat, so maybe gargle with antiseptic mouth wash or salt water (warm) will help the soreness. If it continues, see your doctor.
Hugs

too. Are there any white patches or little white bumps?
True, thrush sounds like that, again soda water and gargle.
Brenda, I am pretty sure those are "Lie Bumps"...LOL
Of course if all else fails, call the Doc.
Hugs,
Dennis
Anyway, that is what it sounds like, so finish the antibiotic, because that is important.
Jarca, my grannie called them lie bumps and ask what little fib I had told... lol She was playing with me now I realize, but back then I was really worrying what fib I had told, and to who....Had I really told one and grannie knew about it (she knew everything) she would have told me to bring the switch!!! : )
Capt, I hope it clears up soon, but eat maybe soft foods or something until it does...

After conducting a visual on my tongue, I do notice a couple of white bumps toward the tip. And when I was in the hospital for two weeks recently, they injected me with an anti-clotting med in the stomach area before starting my IV drip of Levoquin, which is the other drug mentioned.I also was given and IV drip of azithromycin as well. I remember asking the nurse if I did indeed have thrush and after inspection of my mouth, she replied no.
I will start rinsing with baking soda and water and hopefully this will end my dilemma.
Use a soft toothbrush and rinse your mouth with a diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide solution several times a day."
This worked for me, I even dabbed a q tip in the H2O2 and put it on the little spots, let sit, then rinse. Worked fast!

Oh by the way, I have finally made it to Plymouth, NH where I will start the journey of undergoing the application process for LVRS. From palm trees to pine trees and my first white Christmas in 28 years! To be with family and friends is truly "paradise", no matter where it may be.
Have a great and blessed day everyone...
Now that my tongue is okay....I am particular what I drink a lot of....not too much of anything that contains a lot of acid....like orange juice, lemonade etc. Not too much raw onion with meals either.
Maybe some of these suggestions will help....please let us know as I believe there are quite a few older people who suffer with a sore tongue. Oh, and also I took B-12 for a month or two after a doctor looked at my tongue and told me to take B-12.
