If I remember correctly, one of our members said they would rather use the handhaler than the rotohaler. I am sure someone will verify that to you, but I do not see why it can not be used. As long as you can get the medication.....

Yes, you can use the handihaler that comes with Spiriva with the rotocaps from ADC.

I don't use the rotohaler the way the instructions say. I pinch or snip off the top of the capsule and put the medicine into the rotohaler.

Thanks TerryDavid, things are getting better each day. I also have the adc capsules and the rotohaler, but have not used it yet because I am still on my regular prescription that I had to fill while waiting for my adc meds. But it is good to know the handhaler works. Thanks Boldprint , and others for sharing this info.

I have always used Spiriva but also was always wondering if their was powder in the capsule at times.

I ordered the Rotahaler from www.inhousePharmacy.BIZ. The USA: 800-868-9064 and the UK: 0808 234 7254

It is clear and cost $5.00. It comes in 2 pcs to allow you to open and pour the contents of the Spiriva into the clear bowl. Replace the top , There is an opening where you place the Tiova capsule. Just cover that with your finger and using the mouthpiece , one good inhale takes all of the Spiriva powder that you place in it.

One more advantage is that you don't have to puncture the capsule as you do when using the Handihaler that comes with Spiriva. That can always be a little "iffy" as to how hard or how slight.

Good to know cuz I just placed my order for 6 months of the Spiriva clone from ADC and waiting its arrival - don't think I'll toss out the handihalers from the samples the doc gave me . . . . good info and t/HANK/s

I prefer the rotohaler that comes from ADC over the Spiriva one because I can always see if the capsule has broken in half or not, something I couldn't do with Spiriva. But you do need to rinse the rotohalers out frequently and let them air dry for them to work their best. I have several of them since they've been sent to me free each time I order my meds, so always have clean, dry ones on hand.

Thank you Imarighter for your answer and I agree. I was mainly concerned about having the option of using the handhaler since at the moment I only have one Rotohaler. Another is on the way though. Yup I do keep it clean. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it.

I see you are from S.D. My daughter also lives there and when I hear her weather reports I cringe. I am so glad that I am where I am, especially now with this disease.

I have tried both and I think I get more in my mouth with the roto. and it gets built up with powder, so was wondering about this. if the powder gets built up ,am I getting all of it? I seem to be able to get it into my lungs better with the Spiriva handihaler, I think. I have been debating this for a bit now.

I have stockpiled a bunch of handihalers from my years with spiriva. Often I just reused the same one with a new package of caps. I just put the rotacaps in the handihaler just like I did the spiriva capsules. Works just fine. Rotohailer gets too much powder in my mouth.
