Daniel please try and relax. Don't do this to yourself. Stress and anxiety increases COPD, as well as other breathing disorder symptoms. Denial isn't always deadly. Habits aside, mentally go back to life as usual before the Doctor gave you this news..which you aren't really sure of what it is. If your world was good then, pretend it's good now. The stress of waiting to find out this news will kill you, long before COPD or any breathing issue will. I don't know how old your sons are, but you don't want to scare the hell outta them either. There have been so many times in my life that I just about worried myself sick over crap that never happened. I stopped doing that long ago. Do I worry? Sure, but I give myself a time limit and I can only stand to be totally miserable for a few hours. This too shall pass Daniel. If you believe, then give this to God and let go. Write down your fears about this doctor's appt, then let go of it. Put the paper in a place where if you decide to revisit your fears, you'll have to search for this paper. If you pick up the thought, mentally, let it go! If not, by the time Friday get's here, you are going to be a hot mess! In other words, bad shape! Also try pursed lip breathing when your heart rate, cravings or stress increases and are having trouble breathing. This relaxation technique may help: Take in air through your nose, then release slowly like you're blowing out a candle or smoke. Battlefield of the mind is a book by Joyce Meyers that might help, since most of our battles start and are fought and won in our minds. Reality is perception. Change your reality. Praying for you. I think the doctors spend so much time with giving folks bad news that they become clinical about it. Maybe he really meant that it is a little. But, what does that mean. I had a panic attack today and got dizzy. I'm a truck driver and delivery oil and grease. So I'm around vapors a lot. I'm sure that doesn't help. My boos let me go home because i was dizzy. Not a good frame of mind to be in when driving a big rig. I stopped and bought a pack of death on the way home. Too much stress right now. I felt better but I know it is the wrong thing to do.
It is spring time hear and maybe my allergies have something to do with my lungs also. I'm sure I'm not that lucky.

when i was driving hazmat, by law i had to wear gloves, eye protection & facemask---i do hope you are wearing the proper protections when you are working as those fumes aren't meant to be inhaled.
also, i worked for a sand/gravel/cement/asphalt company & all those protective face masks (& eye protection) should be worn
(i had a boss who didn't have any of those available unless osha was coming)
i understand, quitting in a truck is hard, but it can be done. another one that the e-cigs are good for so you don't compensate with eating (eating & cigs= a truck drivers 2 worse enemies)---of course all that driving can really reduce excercise #3 ---which can affect your breathing (it did mine---also different allergies at every elevation.
i just had to start my allergy meds as i thought i was getting a sinus infection & realized (DUH) it's allergy time
good luck to you, it sounds like you may have things other than COPD going on, but your lifestyle & the protections you use now might help you not get many things in the future.
BTW; when i got diagnosed (mild/moderate) with copd i learned real fast to be careful of internet information; at that time my dr said mild could live for 15 to 20+ years (if i quit smoking), but no one has a crystal ball.

Eating isn't a problem right now. Just the opposite. I had to force myself to eat a Big Mac today. I have no appetite right now. I'm skinny to boot. We use gloves, but noting else for breathing help. I get good exercise on my deliveries because there is a bit of work taking the hoses to the delivery point, walking back and forth from the truck etc. We pump out of 55 gal drums and 330 gallon totes. It is when i have to look inside the customers tanks that i get the fumes. But if i don't I can have a spill that I need to clean up, then thats more problems.

Ditto on the above. Just for perspective my dad was diagnosed gosh..over 10 years ago when I graduated high school. I wouldn't listen to the time span diagnosis...they have zero clue how long any of us has on this Earth!

Secondly, I agree with the above, see a pulmonologist. There are several tests they need to do before a copd diagnosis can be done.

Last but not least, get rid of that doctor you saw! He sounds irresponsible at best. How can he even give a diagnosis on just listening to your lungs? I once got a diagnosis for something unrelatedon here based on a visual inspection. Freaked me out...turns out two doctors and multiple blood tests later I was in the clear. Don't go back to that doctor!!
