What is a good pulse oximeter? There are so many on line when you search for one and they really appear to be pretty close in function at a wide varity of prices. Anyone have any advice?

I have a little Contec CMS50L unit that despite being very inexpensive has worked super well for me the last couple of years. I take it in during my appointments and check it against the Drs one and we're almost exact every time.
Someone told me Walgreens was carrying them but Amazon does too..

I also have a big old hospital grade one but I also have a SIL who repairs medical equipment and got it for free...

A lot of folks like the Nonin oximeters...

A pulse oximeter can tell you when your Os sats are going south, especially when you exercise or are suddenly SOB. The CMS50E can record your sats for later download to a computer. Great when you are trying to work with your Dr on breathing issues...

i got the first one at a middle price....i thnk it ewas about 80.

lost it...got the fastest delivery one.. that was about 105, i think.

on sale one at 65.....

found the lost one..like it the best. but theyh all work...well.

i'd say ...go with a cheaper one....jus tto save the money.

All of the drugstores carry them now, right with the diabetes blood testing meters. They are about $50 but I don't know how accurate they are. They are labeled sport models for mountain climbers, athletes, etc., and do not require a prescription. As ldozy says,,, take it to your doc appts and check it against their meter and you'll see how accurate it is.

I also use the CMS50E. The part that I relly like is that it is not battery operated but recharged on 110.

Thanks for all the responses, sorry I didn't comment quicker, but I had to leave town due to a death in the family. The CMS50E sounds good, does it take a licking and keep on ticking, I'm kind of clumsy and tend to drop things.

It's not a timex but I have dropped mine on more than one occasion and it just keeps on ticking. :)

anyone use the ones they sell at Wall Mart? Noticed they had one on sale and of course $$ is tight on this end...

Purchased mine on Ebay for around $60. It is accurate. I take it to medical appointments to check it. I can not find a brand name on it.
