My family is buying me a portable oxygen concentrator for my birthday. I go down to Phoenix on Tuesday to try a few different modals and choose the one the best fits me. Now I will be able to work in the yard from dusk till dawn every day without having to worry about running out of oxygen tanks. I can also go camping and travel agian without hassle.

I am so happy :)

Gary..................HAPPY BIRTHDAY:):):).....what a wonderful gift:):):)......just don't over do.............that heat in Az (my HOME state) is a killer......with or without oxygen.

I'm from Tucson...........born and raised..........spent 49 years there before I moved to Texass...............really miss it.....and had NO problems there....... (but I was younger then:):)

I love the heat. I used to hike to the bottom of the grand canyon twice a year. In July or August (120 deg at the bottom). And also did the baja 500 off-road race on a motorcycle ( also 120 deg ). I know I can't do that anymore. I will be happy if I can trail ride with my son, and that will be good enough for me. I am happy that I can still try.

My brothers and sisters live in Tucson. Me , My son, and My parents (93 & 87) live in Prescott (the 5500 ft dosen't help my conditon). I plan on spending the winters in Tucson and the summers in Prescott.

Happy Birthday and many more. I love my portable machine. The battery lasts 5 hours or more on 4. It comes with a car charger and a regular houseplug charger. Try not to get one with a thermocoupler. If it over heats it will not take a charge until it cools down.
Good luck. Are you on SSD? if so they will pay for it.

I just read your post today. I know you will enjoy getting out and doing what you can. Just be careful of the smoke from the campfire, it could cause spasms of coughing, and maybe even infection. Maybe a mask? Anyway, I am happy for you

I picked up my new portable concentrator yesterday. Now I have 7 days to find out If it does everything they claim. So far the delivery seems a little week, but my spo2 is ok. It may just be different and take some getting used to.

i just saw your post & wish you a very happy birthday! let me know which portable you get and how you like it! i am so excited about the one i am getting and the freedom to travel and camp as you state. i guess if we have to have this disease, i'm blessed to have it in this day and age where we have "options" not to be housebound invalids.

jarca: I got the Inogen one G2. What are you getting?

You said in another discussion that you live at 5000 ft. I live at 5500 ft also. when I am home my sat. is 79%-88% without oxygen. When I was in Phoniex yesterday it stayed at 92% without oxygen. When I travel or camp I will be heading for sea level.
