I am blessed cause I do hope to survive this week. Although my perspective doesn't fall in the distant category.
I can actually read this message and even with rarefied brain cells, still can understand it. If you were reading it to me, I probably couldn't hear you.
And I do thank my creator each day and if I had my health I would have everything!!.

It's just something that made me think when I saw it. Although I missed out on the copd scare, and I've not mentioned this here, there is a pretty strong chance I have the start of asbestos related lung disease. I worked as an industrial insulator from 18-38 and had some very bad asbestos exposures and the latency period for asbestos related disease is 20 years and I'm at 31 years from my first exposure. There's something going on in my lungs, it's just not copd, and if it turns out to be mesothelioma I'll be lucky to get 3 years and there is no treatment for it so I'm really in no great hurry to find out.
It is interesting to note that COPD is called the silent killer as I imagine anything under the COPD umbrella is. This is because it is the 3rd largest cause of deaths but not much (other than a few ridiculous) commercials) is seen in the media.
Actually if the drug companies would spend that commercial money doing more research, or should I say supporting research that looks for a cure, but likely this is not on their agenda.
No matter what we have we know we don't have to look too far
to find someone with a lot worse.

I love LilEllie's reply too. I could echo all of her words but she said it better than I could.
I have the last of the sutures from my fall removed tomorrow so I will be grateful for that. And I am overdue to make a Gratitude List which always helps me with my perspective.
I can be grumpy about this short, dark day with colder temps but I will have all of my family here on Thanksgiving and that's a twice a year event so I am thankful for that too. And for all of you.

Being an insulator I've lost several of my working mates to asbestosis and mesothelioma. The very first signs of which for them were, "the doctor says he thinks I have pleurisy." Then it was " well, the xray was clear so it's not pleurisy'" and things just got worse for them from there. Originally when I was having chest pain, the doctor thought "I" might have pleurisy but then the xray showed I didn't. KInd of made me feel like a goose walked over my grave. I still have some chest pain, though less than 7 months ago and I won't pursue it any further unless the symptoms change because as Cindy pointed out, there are no effective treatments for mesothelioma and since that's the case I don't want the thing hanging over my head until it has to. Average life span from time of diagnosis for mesothelioma is about 3 years.
