More airlines are opting not to supply oxygen to their passengers, however, they will allow you to use a portable oxygen concentrator. The good news is the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has now approved four more portable oxygen concentrators to be used during flight. This brings the total to 11 different portable oxygen concentrators (POC) that you can choose from to use. Airlines who no longer supply oxygen are: Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, US Airways, AirTran, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, MidWest, Virgin America. , Airlines who do supply oxygen are: American Airlines ($100 fee per segment), United ( $125 fee per segment), Virgin Atlantic (No Charge) The newly approved portable oxygen concentrators are: IGo, LifeChoice, Lnogen One G2, and Oxlife Independence. These are now in addition to : LifeStyle, Freestyle, Lnogen One, Eclipse, EverGo, Delphi Poc, and XPO2. If you do not currently use a POC and would like to travel, check with your home care company. Many of them will rent them to their patients, for Little to no cost. It truly makes traveling much easier! Also, when making your airline reservation look for or request seats with an outlet so that you can plug in your concentrator while flying and save your battery. A lot of us use expedia, travelocity, etc to purchase tickets. It appears that if we want a specific seating area near a plug we would have to book directly with the specific airlines.
Am I correct and is it more expensive to do this? What are the tips that we need to posts here to help.
I heard yesteday on the news that when you purchase an online ticket from say Expedia, that they attached a cookie and the next time you tried to purchase tickets thru Expedia , it automatically would not go lower in price than your last purchase.
I know you can disable cookies but do we always do that?

I have never used Expedia or any of those. After checking them out, I ended up going directly to the airlines, because I've found better deals there. Plus that way, I get mileage points added on for future flights. You can also, if needed, request wheelchair assistance at the same time, and pick out your own seats. As far as determining which seats would provide plugs, you would probably have to call the airlines directly.
What I wonder is, if you rent your portable oxygen, do you have to rent it for your entire stay or can it just be for the flight itself - if its for the flight how do you return it? I don't imagine they have drop off locations at airports.... :o)
