12:15 AM Just getting ready for sleep and last check at the pond. Guess what.....Rocky was limping pitifully across my french doors in my room leading to the pond. I got the gun ready but he did not come back and I was too tired to wait up for him any longer.
It was 5 am and nature called. On the way back to bed I saw Rocky frolicking in the pond. I left the safety off the gun so I would be quick when he appeared.
As soon as he heard the tumbler turn in the door to open it he took off. By some miracle, he did not limp when he departed from the pond. Could he be playing on my sympathy so I stop shooting at him, I do not know yet how many fish he had for breakfast I will have to check it out later.
I am so tired of cleaning up after that disease infested creature that uses my pond as a toilet I am about ready to give up on him. I have tried everything possible. I even bought a humane trap and he is way too smart to fall for that one, I can not use poison because there are some neighbors cats that roam around here and I do not want to hurt them, besides they keep the rodent population under control,
As soon as all the fish are gone I will have to order dirt and have the pond filled in. I have to face the fact that Rocky is smarter than I am and he beat me. I am so irritated to be giving up but I have done everything I and the entire internet could think of. This reminds me of the movie Caddy Shack.
Well back to bed for me will try to sleep.

Chevy Chase? Try to hold onto your sanity. DO NOT go where Bill Murray went in Caddy Shack. Blowing up your yard is not an option.
Is it possible that there is more than one Rocky? That would explain seeing one limping from a gunshot wound; and another not limping----as it had no gunshot wound. I know you are under a great deal of stress; but do try to remain calm. I am trying to think of something to help you.
We have a HUGE Rocky problem here in Oregon. They multiply and
are overtaking the town I live in. I went outside one night to walk my dog and an entire mob of Rocky's were out there. Mamas, Papas, teenagers, and babies. Kind of scared me, as they were making these clicking noises and other weird sounds. Someone told me they have many different sounds that they can make to communicate with one another. I picked up my dog, so the little sweetie would not be attacked and possibly get rabies (even though Katie has had her rabie shots). The whole mob moved closer to me----showing NO fear of me at all. The babies and teenagers got the closest to me. The Mamas and Papas hung back a bit. The only thing I could think of, was they must have thought that I had food on me. Lucky, as I had no food, and made my escape. LOL
Some neighbors were talking the next day about how cute those little baby Rocky's were, and told me that they had been feeding them. I was in shock. No wonder all those Rocky's came right at me. I tried explaining to the neighbors to PLEASE NOT feed the Rocky's but they would not listen. A week later, a notice was posted on the bulletin board in my apartment complex about Rocky's and the danger of getting close to them; and the fact that they may have rabies; and may injure pets----AND TO PLEASE NOT FEED THEM. As near as I was able to tell, the people feeding the Rocky's are NOT from Oregon, and have no idea that Rocky's can rip a cat or dog to shreds. They thought they were cute and talked about having a Rocky for a pet. I told them keeping Rocky for a pet, would mean destruction of everything they own----their furniture, etc. They did not believe me and insisted that I was crazy. OK. Whatever?
Stay calm Linda. Maybe someone will read your post that can offer you concrete help about how to get rid of Rocky's. Can
you call "Animal Control Officers" in your area, if there are any?

Just a thought---man, what a menace!!!!
Last year, I had a mama raccoon and four of her babies visit....silly me, left cat food in a dish for my cat...it was like an "all you can eat" for the raccoon family so I learned not to leave vittles like that out for them and to keep garbage cans, etc. tightly closed. I have a large crawlspace under my deck and it's covered with chicken wire - that's worked for not letting them nest there. I think it will also work for your pond.
It is possible to get traps from the humane society and once caught, release them where they won't do harm. I also keep up to date on Jaz' rabies shots.
I have bunches of bird feeders...and to keep squirrels and raccoons at bay they are hung on the frame work of patio umbrellas where the material cover itself is no longer good. Just stick them in the ground. The squirrels and raccoons can't climb the metal pole and it's worked really well.
