Hello everyone! I believe I have figured out why I didn't get the transplant I so badly wanted. One year ago today the group home my daughter lives in gave her the wrong person's morning meds and almost killed her. I went at that time to the city housing authority and applied for a 2 bedroom handicapped accessable apartment for she and I. Last week I received notice that our names had finally come up on the list and we have an interview the end of this month. I can again have her with me. I will be able to help her lose some of the weight this home has allowed her to gain ( she's under 5' tall and weighs 198.6 lbs) and get her some treatment for the severe lymphedema that this group home refuses to have her treated for. I don't know how I will care for Carol but I am sure somehow things will work out. I figure if these lazy apathetic people at this group home can do it I will be able to do it also. It just feels like the right thing to do for her and me too. It's odd but it seems the closer I get to my end time the more I see that if I just accept things that happen as the way it should be, the more I see the truth in the saying that when one door closes another door opens. I've spent my whole life swimming upstream and making things work my way...whether that's the way it should have worked or not. Now that I don't have the energy to do that anymore I see how futile that thinking has been. Back to the pulmnorary rehab it has done me more good than anything else except maybe finally giving in and wearing my 02 24/7. I heard friends on here praising the rehab and now I will join the chorus. Anyone who hasn't tried it should. It has increased my stamina so much. I also go to a monthly support group called the better brothers group. We will be learning the harmonica. Seems someone figured out harmonica helps the lungs. Love to everyone here. One of the first things I intend to do if we move to the new apartment is to get internet so I will be able to be a regular here again. Now the only time I have to write mostly is when I arrive early for rehab and use the hospital's internet. Sandy. >^..^

I'm so glad to hear your good news! Perhaps there is an agency in your area that can help you with caring for your daughter, because caring for your child will be extremely exhausting for you. Just remember that you must care for yourself so you can take care of your daughter.
Have you given any thought to contacting your state health department about the deplorable conditions in which your daughter was living? They should be reported.
As to rehab, I am in a rehab program right now, and I agree that the program is all that is advertised. I like the improvements that I have felt and am signing up for the maintenance program. Maybe you can do the same to keep up the improvements that you have felt.

So we live on a ''Wing and a Prayer'' to get us thru and once we accept that this is our Lot in Life, it makes it a lot easier to face.
I am getting assessed for a second round of Rehab and even though I just did a full lung assessment and am so tired of round after round of Appointments and Tests, even though I already can second guess the results, one needs to do them, if only to keep our Care Team happy.
You have been thru so much, much more than I feel I have, so I wish you all the best...
