I'm here...been busy with Mom. She went into the hospital last Monday, from her Nursing home, with 101 fever, pneumonia in her right lunch, on 15 liters of oxygen. They put her over onto a bi pap machine, on 6 liters. She has pneumonia, mrsa, sepsis, and a kidney infection.
She is SO sick...but, her white blood cell count is coming down, and hasn't had a fever. But, she is so exhausted....and they have her on a mechanically soft food diet, which she of course hates!
My Mom smoked for many years, since her early 20's, then after she and my Dad were married, she stopped for 16 years, and then started up again... She finally quit, 8 years ago..(She's 83 now).
She has had over 7 bouts of pneumonia in the last 1.5 years.
I'm hoping she will get off her oxygen, right now she is on 4 liters, with a cannula.
This has exhausted her, and made her feel as this is the WORST pneumonia, she has ever had, and she's had it about 40 times. BUt her lungs are so compromised, that this is just a very bad case of the pneumonia.
Say a few prayers for her. I think they may send her back to the nursing home this week, but not sure.
My pulmonologist appointment is rescheduled now, until Sept 15th. Hoping I can come off the O2 at night, with my bi pap. I don't care if I keep the bi pap, I just don't want that damn concentrator/oxygen at night anymore.
