My friends I would love to post more but I am having attacks again. Just getting up to pee or brush my teeth drops my O2 into the 80s and it's not bouncing back up as fast as usual. Something has changed and I am exhausted.

I'm much too young to feel so damn old. This is not me. I'm a tough old bird but not anymore.

I know you don't feel up to posting, but i do have a suggestion;
As your health has seemed to have made a change since you originally applied for social security disability...Perhaps the Dr that is monitoring you in the hospital will update your condition and recommend you not go back to work.
If so, you should be able to apply for SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) & have the app rushed thru the process.
Since you said that you already get medicare (i think you meant medicaid?) the 2 year wait to get Medicare won't affect you.
You are eligible for early retirement, but I believe you would only receive about 80% of your Social Security benefits. SSDI you won't get less.
Your savings does not have any affect on SSDI .
Due to the fact that you have a "terminal illness", I believe there is a box that you check stating that fact & the application gets rushed thru faster.
I'm sorry to sound so blunt, but it really does sound like working is not helping your health! Working at the post office must be like working with money, with not only every germ imaginable, but dust & fumes, going in & out of the cold etc etc.
Your work may give you money, but it doesn't seem like it is helping your condition at all!
I hope you get feeling better soon. I assume they have you on antibiotics along with the prednisone.

ps. many hospitals have a Medicare person on their financial staff that will help you with the application.
or
it may be in your best interest to hire an attorney that specializes in SSDI and just takes a percentage of the 1st check you receive (it is worth what they charge as they are fast! and it is cheap considering what a normal lawyer would charge to do something like this)
