I didn't use my gas range burners while on oxygen. If i used the oven, I unhooked form 02 to put in or take out a baking dish. If i was up to it, I could unhook long enough to stir a pan or add ingredients if using the range top burners..
I bought an electric griddle, and two electric fry pans. I used the microwave a lot too.
It's difficult after a life time of cooking to scale down this way.
I am not really sure what the latest parameters of using 02 and open flame cooking are, now. A few years ago it was strictly forbidden to cook while using a nasal cannula with open flame.

I use oxygen 24/7 and cook on my gas stove all the time. Just be careful.

Me too, what zelli said. I'm on oxygen 24/7 and still use the gas range as much as I ever did.

As do I use the gas range. From a little research, it's recommended to stay at least 5 or 10 feet away from gas appliances. Tis a matter of choice and taking care if you do use the stove...

I am like Linda, if I have to get something from top of stove or oven, I unhook from my nasal cannula. I do a LOT of microwave cooking, and use a slow cooker (crock pot) at times for bigger meals.
I am thinking it would be ok, if you made sure your tubeing did not drop on the burner, or fall off as you are leaning over the oven.
One member of our DS family, had a dad that did some work in his garage with some kind of fire, (torch, something) and it caught his cannula on fire and he ended up with serious burns in the ER to his nasal passages. Maybe it was a candle, I do not remember, I just remember that !!! Just use caution, or if you can , let someone else cook

I'm also "guilty" of using the gas burners and oven :0( . I love to cook, and love to eat what I've prepared!. One just has to be careful, that's all. By careful, I really mean extra vigilant of your surroundings, and if at all possible, know where your tubing is while at the stove top or if opening the oven door! Multi-tasking is the word I'm looking for.

I have an electric range but I do use the outdoor grill lots in nicer weather. It's like silfox says - be constantly aware and don't get your face or tubing too close to the heat source. I'm on 6 lpm do there's a lot of o2 coming out my canula but so far I've had no problem. - Ruthie (aka dollaraudit)

Jmer, When I cook either the stove or grill (both gas) I am just careful. I haven't had an issue. Just be careful, you should be fine. Take care, Bill
