Ive never been able to manage it. Always strikes me so silly I end up giggling. It wouldnt be so bad if the instructors werent in desperate need of a good meal and held back more on the psycho-babble. The few times in my youth Ive tried Ive always been asked to leave.
However, people seem to love it and swear it does them good. One of the instructors in my Rehab kept after me to give it a try. A friend of hers conducts classes at a local center. My daughter hounded me as well. So I gave it a try. Wasnt easy to stifle my amusement, but I hung in and actually completed the class. Still seemed a bit silly, but did feel better - all in all a decent low-impact exercise. I was surprised.
At my next rehab session was pleased to tell the instructor how well it had gone. She looked a little sad and told me in a low voice her friend suggested she tell me it would be best if I didnt come back.
LOL
bj had a topic a while back that also gave a bunch of breathing/lung excercises. i hope you don't mind me bringing the link back up, but good info in it.

ROFLOL gnott---that must have been 1 fun class when you were there; in bj's links there's a funny lil cartoon guy that might be more up your alley LMAO
Yoga breathing is for over-all well being, calming, relaxation, etc. (Actually back in the day when I practiced Yoga the "exercises" were called poses or asanas, not exercise.) I can attest to the fact that over time yoga poses/asanas can do amazing things for the whole body (inside & out) and mind. I wish I had kept it up--might be in better shape today if I had!! :)
Yeah, Gnott, I can relate--It would have been fun to be in that class!! When I first started and was told to "put this here and that there" and I'm was going you have got to be kidding me--my body does not go that way!!
