Is it possible that you have cracked a rib did you fall?

I can not diagnose what your pain is, but I know my ribs hurt and some times the pain goes up under my breast.

My doctor said it could be one of three things, or a combination. My ribs are stretching because of the hyperinflation of my lungs,
I have an old fractured rib, that was no problem until my ribs staring spreading because of the hyperinflation,
sore muscles from coughing to much. If you are concerned, have it checked out.
Mine was always in my left side, sometimes going around to my back and up and under my left breast.

I don't have a clue. But I highly recommend getting to the hospital particularly based on other problems you're having. I don't feel now is the time to delay. May be medicallly nothing significant, but your concern is of no benefit unless/until you get it checked - emotionally you can't afford this.

Chelle -are you feeling a bit better?- I have to agree with the others who said that perhaps it would be better to have it checked out. The worse that can happen is that they don't find anything serious.-I have some pain on the left side myself before, but I was pretty sure it was muscle related. You are talking about ribs "shifting"?? Have it checked out please !

hi Chelle...I have posted about this very same pain many times...its as Bren said....hyperinflated lungs resting against rib cage....its really a added bonus to my SOB issues....worst part is that its now roaming all over the upper body...I was told to put up with it as there is not much even pain meds can really do except dull it for a bit but I would really appreciate that, if they put me on something stronger but no.....

Sorry Chelle, hope you are doing better by now. Gwapo may be right. No fun. Used to get it on the right side but since my LVRS I have more room there so it is gone. Thank God. Always something with this disease it seems. Not for wimps.

Were you by chance doing the breathing exercises people have posted?

A few weeks ago also, you said you had real bad pain and lowered your O2 and it went away.

Hope you either went to ER or found some relief.

Lynne, Thank you so much for the link. It has answered quite a few problems/questions I've been going through recently. I've had a recent Dexa Scan and I was dx'd with osteoporosis and osteopenia. The pain is so unbearable at times that * actually beg my God to bring me home to heaven. Hugf, Jim

Yes Promises, that has been posted before, but maybe not everyone saw it, so thanks for putting it out there again. Everyone with this disease should read this, an keep their doctors informed if they are experiencing really bad pain.

Chelle, In the past I have actually coughed so hard as to pull muscles in my chest, And everyone else here I am in no position to even consider diagnosing your pain. But it is much better to be safe than sorry. I would seriously consider going to the hospital and having it checked. That would give you some peace of mind. Take care, Bill
