ok so i had to go to the hospital sunday nite after work had a horriable cough couldnt breath, now I was just there in september 11 they took x ray then and said I had pneumonia! well sunday another x ray said it looked better but it was still there! what! then said I had copd! gave me all the same meds they did back in sept now Im soooooooooooo confused and freaking out! this was a very young pac and didnt seam to know alot! im almost 55 and do smoke but that must stop! Im having ANXIETY FROM HELL! CUZ Im not sure what is going on w/ me! please help me understand this horriable COPD! what is still there on my lungs PNEUMOMIA, COPD? I thought Pneumonia went away! wow just so confused!
I'm a bit confused did the radiologist diagnose you??
This doesn't seem appropriate. I think for proper diagnosis of COPD you need a CT scan and need to be under a pulmonologist.
Try not to get anxious until this situation can be clarified. You also need to determine if the pneumonia still requires treatment and advice from your GP about this specifically.
Hope you can get to the bottom of this.
So very sorry you have had so many problems with Pneumonia and COPD.
Lots of unanswered questions as Peta said.
You may be having a new Pneumonia in the same area of the lung as you did in the fall, or its a very stubborn Pneumonia, which is only a guess on my part.
Your doctor will be able to talk to you about that and give you the proper antibiotics to treat it.
Try not to freak out, if you do have COPD its a slow moving disease and very treatable, you must stop smoking to preserve the lung function you still have left and with proper medication and pulmonary rehab you can live on for a very long time to come with a good quality of life.
I hope you begin feeling better real soon.

U have gotten good advice so far u need pulmonary Doc to diagnose u and treat u and u already know the best thing for u is stopping smoking NOW I hope u can do that without too much problems they make lots of things to help a person now days. I wish u the best of luck.
