Hello everyone-
I've been awake all night reading so please excuse any typos.
I'm not even sure anyone is out there - and I'm not even sure where to start.
I was at the dr this week for some ear problems - he wanted me to get a chest x-ray. He called me earlier tonight and wants to discuss it with me tomorrow.
My dr office has an online patient portal which has the test results and the results say "...indicative of emphysema"
I don't have it right in front of me - so I'm not sure of all the terminology.
I have not slept all night and I need to go to work soon.
I haven't even told my husband - I don't know what to do - I'm so scared.

First I want to thank all of you who took the time to respond to my fears and I also want to thank those of you who are silently reading -
I spoke to my dr about the xray the other day and he said not to jump the gun- that yes I have some lung scarring probably from an old infection - said exactly what you all have said - quit smoking (which I have) and to go for PFT test.
I have calmed down and I feel much better too - reading here is a god-send. I'm amazed at all the wonderful folks here who are going through so much - yet reaching out to others in a spirit of hope. Amazing.
I'm also dealing with my husband who is recovering from a bone marrow transplant - so that keeps me busy too.
Please know that I appreciate all your comments- it means so much to know i'm not alone.
